To worry it’s gone in the food?

Hopefully I’ll be told I’m being irrational. In all honesty I would roll my eyes at someone else asking this and not think twice if it happened to me. I don’t usually experience anxieties but recognise this as it - perhaps hormone related as I am expecting my baby soon.

DH is cooking bolognese for the family and dropped the spoon, which spattered sauce and mince down the cupboards below the hob and all over the floor. He wiped the floor and cupboards and then sprayed them with antibac spray. I am worried that the spray has gone into the food directly above and that we will be ingesting it. I watched him spray it and it was definitely lower than the food but the droplets do travel a long way, I know from when I’m cleaning. The cupboard he sprayed was probably 30cm or less from the hob which seems close. If left to me I’d have just wiped it with a cloth and sprayed everything down after dinner

Do you think it’s a non issue? AIBU to worry about eating it?

YABU, definitely hormones/anxiety talking.

I'm pretty certain I'm at higher risk at 17 weeks pregnant because my 5 year old sneezed directly into the soup I was eating at dinner time 😂
I think you'll be fine don't worry.

AgentJohnson · 18/08/2024 19:27

You probably inhale more of the stuff when cleaning.

Jellycats4life · 18/08/2024 19:30

I get anxious about similar things (recently threw away some leftovers because I’d carried some raw chicken in my hands over them and there was a small chance a drop of raw chicken juice might have contaminated them 😅) but I wouldn’t worry about this.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 18/08/2024 19:38

It'll be fine. Cleaning products are made extremely bitter to avoid people consuming them - if they've got into the food, you'll know instantly by the taste.

GrumpyPanda · 18/08/2024 19:44

YABU to use antibacterial spray at all, whether before or after dinner. Wiping the floor down with warm water and a few drops of cleaner will do perfectly well.

What's wrong with antibacterial spray?

sunstreaming · 19/08/2024 13:27

'What's wrong with anti-bac spray? Increasing antibiotic resistance is what's wrong.

You will be laughing at this in a year’s time OP.

Just eat the spag bol (said light heartedly).
