‘I’m a XYZ’ - deleting disingenuous posts

I’ve been on mumsnet for a long time (various handles) but I’ve never seen so many people as there has been recently offering advice on topics they are clearly not knowledgable about.

I’m an ex medical professional and, quite frankly, some of the advice being given is downright dangerous! And if you question it, you get shouted down by the ‘I’m a vet/nurse/doctor/google extraordinaire’ brigade. And they’re clearly not vets/doctors/nurses because no former or qualified medical professional would offer medical advice without seeing the patient or animal! I don’t know a single doctor/nurse/vet who would offer advice via mumsnet or social media - they just wouldn’t.

I know I’m not being unreasonable to find it irritating and dangerous, but am I being unreasonable to think mumsnet should be deleting these we posts where people claim
to be vets or doctors when clearly they are not?!

Yep! I’ve given up trying to flag this stuff as I just get shouted down and told I’m not an expert…by someone who even a non-medical professional should easily be able to identify as an arm-chair know it all! But I am quite worried people take this advice as gospel because they are only asking as they are desperate…so they’re more likely to believe the bollocks people spout.

I see people doing it about the law too - offering blatantly incorrect advice, even on the legal matters sub! It’s so irresponsible.
