Would you go to this wedding?

Wedding tomorrow. DH, I and DS (9 months) in wedding party. Wednesday DS started with diarrhoea, but figured it would stop. Today he's had 5 episodes since 4am. He isn't 'unwell'. He's happy, babbling, rolling, crawling, eating and drinking. If we go we have to drive tonight (wedding 3 hours away). He also has allergy issues that often have GI symptoms and is teething, but his allergy nappies not usually this much.

Do you go?

Edit to add that family members, wedding couple etc want us to come. If he was acting unwell I'd think absolutely not, but he seems completely well and normal apart from the poo.

Yes. Hes a baby. Itll be his teething. Provided hes happy i would go without a second thought

KellyJonesLeatherTrousers · 16/08/2024 16:24

Yes I would go.

Charlieeeeee · 16/08/2024 16:26

Yes, if they still want you to go.

PotteringAlonggotkickedoutandhadtoreregister · 16/08/2024 16:27

Yes. He’s a baby. He’s teething. He’s not unwell.

KreedKafer · 16/08/2024 16:30

If he's otherwise fine, it really doesn't sound like he's got a bug, and therefore isn't going to pass anything on to other wedding guests and he won't be feeling ill or miserable at the wedding.

My knowledge of babies is pretty minimal, so correct me if I'm wrong, but don't they get the runs like that sometimes when they're teething, or if they've eaten something unfamiliar or whatever?

I'm usually very much of the 'keep your sick child away from other people' mindset but this doesn't sound like a sick child at all so I think you'd be fine to take him. Especially if the couple have said they'd still like you to come.

Pottedpalm · 16/08/2024 16:31

Yes go, but in my opinion having a nine month old in a ‘wedding party’ is plain daft!

Topchurch · 16/08/2024 16:32

Go but with caution just in case it’s a bug.

Watch out for a tsunami nappy seeping on others’ finery if someone picks him up.

Maybe don’t let him be passed around loving family members like a parcel in case he gets overtired and grizzly. Handling may exacerbate his condition.

Have a lovely time. I hope baby gets well soon.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 16/08/2024 16:35

I would guess it is a baby issue and not an infectious issue.

obiv only you or daddy will be changing the nappy, and extra hand washing just incase

catgirl1976 · 16/08/2024 16:42

Yes he’s a baby they get stomach issues. Maybe keep him away from elderly or immuno compromised guests and take lots and lots of nappies and wipes and have a plan for one of you to take him out if he gets grizzly

WeddingConundrum123 · 16/08/2024 17:34

Thank you ❤️

He doesn't have a super formal role or anything don't worry 😂 he's wearing a super cute and comfortable romper that looks like a 'suit' (of which I bought 2). They just don't want to leave him out 🤣

Ashton and parsons teething powder (i think spelt right) used to reduce teething loose stool type nappies with my kids, if any use

GivingitToGod · 16/08/2024 17:41

Yes, I would go and pay extra attention to hand hygiene (apologies if that sounds patronising) to minimise transfer of any potential infection

meganorks · 16/08/2024 17:49

No. Apart from the absolute nightmare of travelling/attending with a toddler with the shits, there's a chance of it spreading. I've twice picked up a gastro bug from my toddler and felt the worst I've ever felt. One time I couldn't move or sip water without being sick and/or needing the toilet. Toddler seemed actually fine! Imagine if you get there and then you/your husband get it? Or guests end up with it. Just don't

Sunsetbeachhouse · 16/08/2024 19:51

Op teething doesn't cause diarrhoea in babies.

AugustAlready · 16/08/2024 19:58

@WeddingConundrum123

I agree you should still go, it seems like a reaction due to his allergies or teething, he's welL in himself & the B&G still want you to go.

even better if you have a room at the venue!!

I hope you have a lovely time!

take a change of outfit for yourself too!!

pizzaHeart · 16/08/2024 20:03

As @Sunsetbeachhouse noted teething doesn’t cause diarrhoea so it’s food or bug. You can choose yourself depending on circumstances.

MsNeis · 16/08/2024 20:15

I wouldn't go... but not for other people, but for the baby 😅

WeddingConundrum123 · 17/08/2024 21:17

Thanks for all the replies. We went. Much less 'loose' first thing this morning then nothing else all day! Still normal in himself and, related or not, discovered his first tooth has come through which definitely wasn't there last night.

Here a couple more days! Spend more time with people before end of maternity leave and LO is LOVING all the attention and thinking it's all about him. In the speeches if there was an applause he was laughing and flapping thinking it was at him cos he'd done something so awesome EVERYONE was telling him good job 🥰

Yes, I’d go, but I’d be planning ahead to duck out early (I assume you likely won’t be raving til midnight with a 9 month old anyway!) if he (or you) are feeling unwell or tired. Dh can carry on his wedding party duties.

Already in bed snuggling him!

(We always cosleep, I have not consumed alcohol!)

I don't see the point of going as your attention will be on the baby.

LizzieSiddal · 17/08/2024 21:32

Aww lovely update. Glad it all
went well.
