Sick child on holiday

My DS, two years old has a bad cold, cough and had a high fever in the night. 39.4.

It started yesterday after he had a nap. We stated in for the night of course. Calpol didn't work on his fever last night, but thankfully nurofen did work .

I'm not sure what to do today. It's really hot. I think I need to stay home with him, like I would when he's sick at home.

Maybe my husband can take DD to the beach.

What about the air conditioning? We need to keep using it, as it's so hot of course but it's not going to make him worse, right ? I think as always he needs to stay cool. Hopefully it will blow over in a couple of days.

Sorry to sound like such an idiot but the climate is just so different to what we are used to and of course we don't need to use air conditioning at home when he's sick etc etc. but I think the same rules still apply, just keep him cool. Therefore I can't take him outside at all, as it will just heat him
up even more.

Yes, keep him in and resting until he feels better.

Which country are you in and are you in a hotel? How hot is it? Does he need to see a dr?

We are in Italy, in a flat.

Regarding the doctor, I don't know really if he needs to see one yet. It just looks like a bad cough and cold at the moment. At home I probably wouldn't go to the doctor yet.

It's around 30-33 degrees.

Keep him cool, I wouldn’t worry too much about food just fluids. Maybe an ice lolly if he’s not drinking much?

I would see how he feels much later this evening once the heat has died down
a bit maybe a walk in the buggy?

Trust your instincts.
Sorry this has happened on your holiday hopefully he’ll bounce back quickly.
