I just read this www.thetimes.com/article/a0699e8b-4b41-4114-ad5e-42470c716499?shareToken=37228a1e75546f07f39376a2c6d2fb18
And find the audacity of Disney amazing!! No one ticking to agree terms and conditions for a streaming service can possibly imagine this would be the outcome!! You can't sue them even if they kill your partner!!

Why title a thread that isn’t relevant to the actual issue. Somehow you suggest that I should feel ashamed for falling for a click bait title relating to a service I use

DarkForces · 14/08/2024 21:25

Thank goodness we're in uk where this would be stopped before the headline was complete

WannabeMeeeeee · 14/08/2024 21:25

This is terrible and very worrying

Does it just affect US or are we bound by these Ts&Cs in Europe too? This completely undermines the rule of law!

No. You can't get rid of your liability for serious injury and death that's due to your negligence in the uk.
There's also the unfair contract terms act that stops organisations sneaking this stuff into contracts with individuals (business to business is different)

Ghosttofu99 · 14/08/2024 21:29

What happened is quite serious and it’s a shame some posters are derailing the thread.

Disney is an evil far left melting pot. This is Florida. It will be laughed out of court.

Not being homophobic doesn't make you far left.

I totally understood you

The Disney+ thing is only part of it

He used the Disney account he also used to sign up for Disney+, he didn't buy via Disney+ because you can't buy tickets via Disney+

Rollercoaster1920 · 14/08/2024 22:01

If I remember correctly a couple of years ago Disney harmonised the sign ins for it's various services. Shop used to be different to Disney plus (and probably parks). In accepting the merge at the time (I think I had to) or possibly when trying to buy the park tickets if might have said "hey, you already have an account with us, shall we use that one" he may have agreed to the small print.
Either way it does show American law generally is worse for the consumer than UK law. And that Disney have thorough defense lawyers and sneaky terms and conditions.

I wasn’t talking about that. I could list a hundred other shady things they’ve done but as we’re on the subject wanting to protect VERY young children from topics that are inappropriate for their age group doesn’t make you homophobic. Do I care who you go to bed with on a night? Doesn’t crack the top 10,000 subjects I think about. I couldn’t care less. Do I want my 6 year old being taught about sexual orientation before they even know what the word sex mean? Hell no!

Showing gay people isn't inappropriate for young children and isn't "teaching" them about sexual orientation any more than showing a straight couple is

Your homophobia is showing

@iamtheblcksheep does your 6yo not know that men can marry men and women can marry women? Mine does, largely because she just assumed it and happily I never had to correct her, unlike when I was growing up.

Of course she does. She knows that her friend has two mummies. It’s perfectly normal and I don’t think it’s ever been brought up as a question. She also know that her uncle James kisses and holds hands with her uncle Simon. Again perfectly normal. What she doesn’t know is sometimes boys want to be girls and the process they go through to get there. She doesn’t know the process her uncles go through to have sex. She doesn’t know the process her parents go through to have sex. She doesn’t know what sex is. She’s 6 for god sake!

When did they "go woke"?

When they made films with female protagonists? Made films with non white protagonists? When they included very minor background gay characters? When they included a non-binary character? When they included gay main character? When they made a film that was a metaphor for periods? When they included people with disabilities? When they went into how emotions work?

Disney has some shady business practices but them including LGBTQ+ (since I'm guessing that is your issue) representative isn't one of them and is a positive and if you think otherwise... your bigotry is showing

I don't think Disney have been showing gay sex. It's a sex free environment. Even the animals in the lion king have no genitals. What are you actually talking about?

Disney has been showing people have sex?!

I've been watching the wrong Disney films obviously

(Ignoring your transphobia and ignoring that FtM exists as well because there's no point)

Yes they were doing an excellent job of being inclusive when they removed the dwarfs from Snow White. They’ve moved so far to the left they are eating themselves from the inside out and discriminating against people they should be supporting.

I’m talking about a piece of legislation brought about in Florida addressed by a previous poster up thread. Maybe instead of trying to be rude, educate yourself about the company beyond the pretty pictures and fairground rides.

None of that relates to Disney showing gay sex.

What are you even on about?

When did Disney ever release anything directed at six yos showing or describing sex of any kind. Confused
