Things just seem so doom and gloom at the moment. The climate isn't changing, it's changed. Our natural world is disappearing. Fires everywhere, floods. Food shortages, literal shit in our water. Prices are rising and rising. People can't afford to live and the unrest seems to be growing.

I'm 31 and I don't remember things seeming this bad when I was growing up but maybe I was just too young and carefree to notice properly. Now I'm older and have a daughter myself I worry about what kind of world she will grow up in.

I know that nobody has a crystal ball but would love to hear people's thoughts on what things might be like!

I'll likely be dead, I hope so anyway

Well, if you leave the God part out of it, @AgileGreenSeal, that verse is telling me I'll be dead. Which is true.

NB: Please don't post further quotes to show me what I've missed, we don't all live by the words of men having psychotic episodes thousands of years ago. Hope you take comfort in their promise of eternal peace, though.

Hi @Garlicfest
”NB: Please don't post further quotes to show me what I've missed…”

NB: I will post whatever I like. Please don’t tell me what to do. 😊👍

When did this happen in history? @Rummly

“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
Revelation 21:4

The book is an account of the Roman Empire in the area at the time. Nothing in it is a foretelling over time. Anything written in the future tense is the very short future, when Rome would be removed from, broadly speaking, the holy land.

I have hope. Because while the big ticket items like the environment, climate change, war, food security and AI/tech advances are very scary - everywhere I’ve been in the last couple of years, the majority of people are civilised and normal.

I was in a very popular busy seaside resort last week and everyone seemed to be living happily alongside others. Supermarkets, relatively calm. School end of term celebrations - delightful. Olympics - largely celebratory and enjoyed by all the different nations. Holidays - people flying off to far flung destinations enjoying the summer. Cities and towns - shops bustling and cafes and pubs packed with people drinking and eating outside. Taylor Swift bringing joy to fans in every city and other artists playing to packed concert halls. Edinburgh fringe - another celebration of laughter and culture. Plenty of folks enjoying life in big and small ways.

Yes we’ve had riots but they were a minority of fucked-up idiots. Yes there is horrific inhumanity in other parts of the globe, but most ordinary people aren’t responsible for that and don’t want to live like that.

I think there is a massive instinct for peace and stability, and hopefully that will prevail.

Water is going to be the next resource getting fought over.
