Not sure what to do

For the last few weeks I've sometimes had a sort of weird, draggy, occasionally slightly uncomfortable feeling very low in my abdomen. There's also the very occasional twinge, but nothing major. So a couple of weeks ago I saw the GP, who examined me but couldn't feel anything untoward, and took some bloods. She also mentioned the possibility of sending me for a scan.

When I called a few days later the receptionist said bloods were all normal, including the ovarian cancer CA125 marker (my main worry), and they said there were no comments from the GP. So I thought I'd give it a little while longer and then see her again if it continues - I'm an otherwise perfectly well (AFAIK) 57 year old.

Fast forward to this morning, and I'm trying to buy travel insurance for a short trip to Portugal next month. One of the questions was whether I'm being investigated or referred for any reason. I clicked 'no' as I am not aware of any referral, and then clicked 'yes' to see what would happen if I were. It immediately flashed up in red that I wouldn't be eligible for insurance, so I clicked back to 'no' again, as currently I'm not aware of any further action by the GP.

Now it's occurred to me that unbeknownst to me the GP might have made a referral for a scan after all. I could call and ask the surgery, but if it turns out I have been, it looks as if I won't get travel insurance, even though whatever it is will almost certainly cause no emergency issues whatsoever for the few days I'm abroad. I don't even know what the scan (if there is one) would specifically be looking for.

But if I do nothing, assume no referral has been made yet, and then (worse case scenario) need emergency treatment for something completely unrelated, will they then look at all my medical records? Would my lack of knowledge of the potential scan referral invalidate my whole policy, even if it wasn't a related condition?

Or am I overthinking this? (Wouldn't be the first time 😆 ). WWYD?

Call the GP and check, and then if you have been referred you'll need to ring round for insurance with an exclusion for current conditions.

My GP told me recently whilst having hormone blood tests, that dragging feeling was my pelvic floor in menopause!

Yeah, I think it's probably something along those lines. I've self examined for prolapse and it all feels OK, but it definitely feels gynae related - hopefully nothing more sinister.

The joys of aging, sigh...

Oops sorry, realised you said Portugal. Have you got an ehic card?

Used to have one. I've now gone on UK GOV site and applied for GHIC!
