to be crying that I’ve been scammed?

I have been scammed and I thought all would be resolved once the bank stopped my card but I’ve just checked and now the same company ( a USA based website that I have never ever used or heard of and looks like a dodgy cover up kind of site ) have transferred out £700 of my account.

I have no idea how this has happened but Lloyds is shut and I’m in pieces 😢

Is the fraud line or the number on back of card not still open?

MarshmallowVeronica · 11/08/2024 21:28

Their fraud service is open 24/7. Here: www.lloydsbank.com/help-guidance/protecting-yourself-from-fraud/contact-us.html

Don't worry you will get it back. Call the bank's fraud line and report any fraudulent transactions. They will refund the money to you - when I had similar happen it took about a week for the money to come back to me (the first person I spoke to stopped my card, I had to ring again later and go through it all again before it was passed to the fraud team). It is horrendously stressful but you will get it back.

Honestly, these bastards work very hard to get round your defences. Like a magic trick, they work on manipulation and distraction. They’re at fault, not you.

Fraud departments are open 24\7 - give them a call and let them sort it. But call them from a different phone because fraudsters can easily make you think you’re speaking to your bank because they keep the phone line open and pretend to be the bank even if you think you’ve hung up.

MidnightMusing5 · 11/08/2024 22:51

Transfer any remaining monies you have in your account out asap- if you haven’t already done so.

You don’t know that she will get it back. It depends on the situation. Banks are increasingly refusing, for example if you get a fishing email and click on it and enter your details you are unlikely to get the money back these days as you willingly typed them in. Banks issue so many warnings they no longer deem it something that couldn’t have been foreseen.

Get the bank to put a block on that company withdrawing any money for 12 months.

What they do is set it to be a subscription, then if you cancel the card, they can just update it to the new card. I found this the hard way too, with a pretend car parking account, luckily for just £35.

Yupdowop · 11/08/2024 23:30

my Dd just had an amazing experience with the fraud department at Lloyd’s, every penny back and FAST. They were so good.

ThankyouForSunshine · 11/08/2024 23:34

You should be able to get it back I would imagine. Fraud line should be 24/7. What was the original scam? Did you put your details in somewhere?

ThankyouForSunshine · 11/08/2024 23:35

Just say that you have a unrecognised transaction and have never heard of or used the website, hope you get it sorted, let us know how it goes.

FleaDog · 11/08/2024 23:40

Are you in your overdraft p?

If so your overdraft is the bank's money not yours so tjat part has to be refunded as it is the bank's money taken not yours.

I could explain it much better but it's kate and I'm tired!
