Considering this for birth for a various reasons, feel as though I need to make my mind up either way soon.

Just looking for positive stories from those of you who have had an ELCS/at maternal request. Even better if you’ve had a previous ‘natural’ birth to compare it to.

:) thanks

I had an elective CS with my second child. It was great - easy to sort out childcare for first child as you know exactly when it will be, none of that trying to work out of you are in labour business, etc. All very calm and civilised.

With my first baby I had an emergency CS after a full day+ in labour. Obviously the procedure was much less calm then, but it was still ok. The labour element of it had been very long and had got very painful by that time, and I didn’t want to have a repeat of that so requested a CS the second time.

The actual CS was fine both times and my recovery was good and very quick - I was up and about more or less straight away. There were no drawbacks from the CS either time for me.

I have had 2 and zero regrets. Both calm, relaxed, quick recovery. I think planned sections have an easier recovery than emergency and I’m older so at higher risk of the latter. The first 24-48h are a bit rough but they will be with any birth.

I have 4 DC, 2 were emergency c-sections, 1 was 'natural' and the baby of the house was a planned csection. The planned section was by far, the most enjoyable experience. I was aware of everything going on around me, I felt more in control. The natural birth was a nightmare, but this was probably due to giving birth after my first was an emergency section. You will hear all different experiences, you do what's right for you. Good luck

I havem't had an elective but I did have an emergeny CS. Compared to my natural birth the CS was an easier recovery and less long term issues. The first couple of weeks were hard but then it was fine. The first 2 days I could move around and hold my baby fine but standing up/getting up were so hard as the muscles weren't there! I'm not having a 3rd but if I did it would be an ELCS!

I’ve had two natural births (1 wonderful and 1 not) and 2 elective caesareans (both fine). I’d have another elective in a heartbeat rather than have another birth like my 2nd. Recovery was great for me as I was up and about quickly and the only thing that really frustrated me was not being able to drive. For my natural births - I recovered very quickly from my first but suffered back pain for over a year after my second. It really is completely random unfortunately. I had to fight for both of my electives and I’m glad I did but my 2nd birth was my motivation which made things easier to justify.

I had ah ECS for my second and it was brilliant. No stress over due date, labour, how to organise childcare for our eldest, etc.
No labour ward in pain, busy midwifes ignoring you, having to take care a newborn exhausted...

We got there early in the morning, waiting for our turn in the post labour ward so could settle in, got called in for surgery and baby was there 2h later. We were out the next day.

First 3 days are really painful, but recovery was pretty quick for me afterwards. It does seem to differ though so it could take longer.

Had 2 and they were great.also please remember according to NICE guidelines you’re entitled to one if you feel it’s right for you. If they have bay push back they have to refer you to another consultant.
I had no push back to be fair, they were really supportive I wanted one as I was nervous about natural birth outcomes. Hope you’re feeling supported whatever you want

Had an elective c-section with my twins (was encouraged by the medical team due to some slight complications), really glad I did. It was calm and organised, I felt in good hands, felt present and able to fully understand what was happening to me and the babies during the full process etc. No panic or stress at all, I look back on my experience fondly. Delivered two healthy and happy babies, which is ultimately all that matters. The immediate recovery was tough, but well worth it.
