To ask if I’ve bought excessively?

I am expecting my first baby and have become an avid bargain hunter on Vinted. I’ve purchased a set of 4 vests from Next, brand new in packet, for £1! With postage it was still less than £4.

Sorting through what we have bought for baby and discovered we actually now have 20 short sleeve vests in 3-6 month size. Is this an excessive amount and should I resell some of this size or will they come in handy?

Not all babies puke and leak multiple times an hour though OP. Don't be pa Ickes by the responses.

Nobody is saying panic, just that it's good to have plenty spares.

Life is easier if you always have a clean dry change of clothes on hand.

As others have said, keep them, and if you don't use them, pass them on once they have been outgrown.

Keep them. My baby had reflux and averaged about five outfit changes a day. Multiple onesies and vests were a godsend!

We averaged 5 changes a day with both boys as babies. I think 20 is reasonable

I think you're being excessive buying age 3-6 months now yes! Mine were both about 9 months before they were even in that size. Newborn drowned both of my two, ended up with prem baby size.

I bought nothing for baby no2 until he was actually born and then sent DH out. You will have LOADS of time on your hands in the middle of the night to be perusing second hand sites ' I'd hold off buying completely til then or else what will you do to fit that time :)

Sethera · 10/08/2024 17:26

Why not wait and see, and if you haven't used them by the time your baby outgrows them, sell them then?

Whereas my second went into 18-24 month size at five months, he was off the charts for height and weight. He also had reflux/dairy allergy and puked down himself or a pooey nappy would leak at least three times an hour, so 20 vests was ideal. They're all different, my first barely dribbled let alone anything more.

DS was born in the middle of a hot summer. I seem to remember him wearing only a nappy and sleeveless vests most of the time.

My son was in 3-6 months from birth 🤣

Overthebow · 10/08/2024 18:48

Depends when you are due and what you're planning on then wearing? Of summer and you're planning on putting them just in a vest then 20 might not be excessive, but in winter you'll likely want more long sleeved, and by 3-6 months you might want to put them in some outfits.

Congratulations!

I think that’s about right. Those mustard yellow poos literally stain everything forever so you may well bin a few. And a drooly, teething baby can soak a vest in an hour or two 😬

Plus, with a little baby to love and look after, laundry may not happen as much as you’d expect so have a few day’s supply 😂
