M4 nightmare!! AIBU to think travelling in the school Holidays is utter shit!?

My God! We’ve travelled 150 miles in 5 hours!! We are all bored and even the chilled dog is ‘wtaf is going on?’
Any insights into the travel on M4 this time of year please - is this normal?
I think we need to fly away next year for our annual Family holiday.

Its awful when the traffic is against you! Hope you made it home safe and sound. We have another 2 hours to go. I'm so fed up of eating sweets!! Going to be fasting for 3 days! 🙄

We’ve driven from the NW to the SW. On the way down we leave at 6am or earlier. On the way back we leave at 8pm or later. Rarely hit traffic at those times. Had a clear run both ways

Should have done what Billy Joel did and get the train to Wales!

Friday evenings are always a nightmare but a concert in Cardiff creates carnage.

Ahh thanks @juggleit we made it home around 4, was so relieved! Could have been worse, ds1 drove dh and ds2 home and they ignored that satnav coming off the m6 and drove straight into road works!! I nearly did the same but he text dd1 and we saved ourselves an extra 20 mins. I think I would have cried if I'd got stuck in that too!
