to ask about Levenshulme, Manchester?

Hi all

DP and I are thinking about moving to Manchester in c.3 or so years, when I finish my training contract (subject to us both getting jobs etc.) DP really wants to live in Chorlton because it's 'naice' (do people still say that on Mumsnet?) but I would rather live in nearby Levenshulme because we could buy a house -rather than a flat - for less money.

I keep looking at this terraced house and thinking about how I would keep the pink living room and maintain the garden. A friend of a friend bought a house in Levenshulme - and she's a single woman! DP and I currently live in London in a rented flat, so the idea of buying an entire house for under £230k makes my head spin (even though Mancunians tell me that is steep for Manchester!)

As I understand it you aren’t moving for 3 years so it’s way too soon to even consider looking. Areas change, prices change.
Levenshume is ok but it’s never really changed from ‘up and coming’ to arrived! It’s gritty and dirty but it has some interesting places to eat and is close to town. It’s a very multicultural area.
Chorlton would be much more suitable for you I think but as you know it’s twice the price.
Whoever has told you £230k is steep for Manchester is talking out their arse, as you can see the only places you can get a house are the ‘gritty’ areas.
you probably need to stop looking and come back to it in 2.5 years and see what you can afford then, Manchester is in a big boom at the moment with lots of southerners relocating and prices are matching that. So in 3 years who knows…
