So, cloned facebook accounts, pretending to be a friend of a friend selling stuff. Very convincing, spoke to them on the phone too.

payed by bank transfer cos I thought it was a known local person with mutual friends.

It was to Revolvute bank account

I know I was stupid…

called it in to the bank HSBC the money had left my account

They took details and said they would try and get the money back.

I know I have been stupid.

what do you think the chances are of getting it refunded? any experience?

OP, don't feel stupid at all. These people rely on victims feeling silly so they are too embarrassed to report them. This truly can happen to anyone.

The poster who referred to the account being cleaned out was talking about the Revolut account being emptied and closed, making it impossible for the bank to get the OP's money back.

APP regulations and the imminent strengthening of the PSR relating to push payments have changed this area
You will almost certainly get your money back

I've heard of people losing thousands through this Revolut. It might be a legitimate bank, but there is certainly something about it that makes it attractive to fraudsters and con artists. I don't know what.
