Accepting new job

I have recently been offered a new job which has much better conditions and benefits to my current job as well as twice the salary.
The thing is I have just found out I'm pregnant (having previously had 3 pregnancy losses) and I'm just worried am I better not accepting the job just incase this pregnancy is a successful one.

It might be worth checking new employers maternity policy, some organisations stipulate a length of service before they are eligible for full maternity policy. At minimum it's just statutory.

Thanks but That doesn't bother me anyway because in my current job there is no paid mat leave only statutory.

If you choose to leave and start the new job, you won't be entitled to statutory maternity pay from the new job, but you can still get maternity allowance, which is exactly the same. The only thing you won't get is the first 6 weeks full pay.
I would advise your new employer though that you are pregnant following losses but would still want to take the role. It's very hard for companies to retract a job offer once formally sent out, especially for those with protected rights.
Hope that helps (i work in HR and currently on maternity leave Smile)

If you’ve no maternity benefits in your current role, why wouldn’t you accept the new one? Put all the extra salary away for mat leave if you can. If you’re very early days I wouldn’t tell the new employer either, certainly not before signing a contract.
