Cutting back on booze

I've always loved a drink. Binge drank a lot in my twenties which I rarely do now barring the very occasional night out. But I do enjoy having a few drinks at home in the evening and this has crept up to 3-4 nights a week. I don't get blackout drunk obviously but nicely tipsy and I still do enjoy it.

However I can't ignore how much better I feel when I don't drink. I sleep better. I have more energy. Even though I don't get hungover I can tell I've had a drink and I've also put on a fair bit of weight.

Most importantly I know I'm a better parent when I don't drink. I have more time and patience. I don't want to give up entirely but I do feel like for my health and for my kids I should cut back. Has anyone else done this?

I just wanted to say that if anyone's in this position and needs to lose quite a bit of weight, I've found that Mounjaro has stopped me even thinking about having a drink. It was so routine for me to have a couple of glasses of wine every night and I hated the fact I did. I knew it was bad for my health. It had certainly been bad for my teeth. I dreaded getting an alcohol-related illness. Since using Mounjaro I haven't even thought of having a drink. I haven't had any alcohol in ten weeks. There was no decision, at all. Previously on diets I'd tried to factor wine into it - "I'll just have one, or one every other night" - it was a bit of a priority, really. Obviously this only applies to anyone who has a BMI over 30, but if you do, you might find it a lifesaver.
