To have zero expectations in dating

Single for 9 months, which I know isn't that long at all.
Prior to that relationship, I had about 7 short-term things in 5 years, which all ended because the men slow faded/suddenly lost interest/were never that into me.

Looking back, I'm very glad they did as they were immature and not the right men for me at all, however it's knocked my confidence.
My 2nd relationship in my 20s was abusive and he was a cheat, and my most recent one ended because he didn't want to commit.

My track record isn't great as you can see. I did a little online dating earlier this year, had 2 dates with a guy then got ghosted.
Deleted the apps and haven't really been interested since, just enjoying my family time, friends and hobbies.

I'm in my mid 30s and obviously it's hard sometimes.

At the weekend I went out to an event held by a workmate of mine. I met a friend of his there for the first time and we had a brief chat.

My workmate told me yesterday that his friend was interested in me and found me very beautiful and nice to talk to.
This doesn't really happen for me, well I get the initial attraction from men but it doesn't usually last.
He's been texting me, I have zero expectations.
I'm already telling myself it probably won't go anywhere because he'll 'not feel a spark'.
Any advice?
I'm just trying to keep busy. I had a habit of trying too hard because I didn't want to seem like a boring texter, but I know it's better to just be yourself.
I'm rubbish at flirting, I'm scared of being too forward and looking 'desperate'.
