My question would be how can you be certain this is a panic attack? Or series of panic attacks?

Can you call 111 for advice?

miniaturepixieonacid · 03/08/2024 01:32

Yes, definitely call 111. Are you sure they're panic attacks?

silvershark22 · 03/08/2024 01:33

Sorry to drip feed. I messaged my GP this morning. Recieved a text back this afternoon to say had sent diazepam to my nominated pharmacy however, only saw when it had closed and isnt open all weekend.

I think its a pannic attack as first happened when told something difficult and not sure what it could be.

I think am paniced about the feeling of pannic. The feeling like going to die, shaking shivering, fast heart rate and dizziness all feel like sepsis did and so am in a cycle that i have sepsis. I know its not this rationally as am not feelingng unwell am eating drinking and weeing. However like a flashback to a feeling that i had then when a dr asked how i felt and i said like i was going to die and they said made sense with blood results.

With your update I would call 111 just to be sure as you’ve said you don’t feel anxious even though you don’t feel unwell either. Do you have a previous history of anxiety and that’s why your GP has prescribed diazepam? I’m surprised they diagnosed and prescribed just based on a message

silvershark22 · 03/08/2024 01:58

I was previously prescribed 5 diazepam because of a difficult legal situation I had a witnessed panic attack in hospital last year with the sepsis. They gave me lorazipam but this was more rapid heart beat chest pain and a feeling of being unable to breathe.

A nurse at the drs prescribed after i filled in the online form saying had had what i thought was a panic attack. They text back prescribing 4 2mg diazepam reminding one of prescription of a controlled drug and a warning re driving and opperating machinery. No other mh support or review was offered

I think the best thing to do would be to go for a walk or run

silvershark22 · 03/08/2024 02:32

I did 30 mins on peleton earlier but came but 20 mins in had to stpop as was shivering but helped with the shaking.

Well if you’re asleep and miss the call then that’s fine, your panic will have settled and you’ll be resting. 111 will try you up to three times normally before closing the case.

WhoOfWhoville · 03/08/2024 02:47

OP, you could also try a dose of paracetamol (as per pack instructions) - if you have a fever then the paracetamol will help to settle it and the shivering and shaking will stop. That might mean you have an infection and could need antibiotics which 111 will help you with. If the shivering and shaking carries on after paracetamol, it validates your panic attack theory.

ZebraD · 03/08/2024 02:50

Try doing some deep breathing to help - there are exercises to calm yourself down naturally.
I hope you feel better soon.

silvershark22 · 03/08/2024 02:58

Have spoken to 111 who say to contact a GP within 3 working days.

Go to an emergency room and get some Valium or something.

You really need to slow your breathing down. If you are hyperventilating you can breath into a bag. See if the if a video on YouTube or something that you can copy. Focussing on that while doing the exercises may help. I hope so for your sake.
it would be a really good idea to practice something exercises away from your panic attack, assuming it is just that. So that when you have the panic attack you know how to do them properly.

bakebeans · 03/08/2024 07:50

You need to find what works for you in these situations. Have you tried deep breathing, meditation, going for a walk. May take you mind away

TooTiredOfThisShit · 03/08/2024 07:52

I wonder if it's worth trying a different pharmacy, showing them the text from your GP, and they might give you just enough to tide you over until Monday? (they can definitely do this with some medications, but not all) You could try phoning ahead.

If not, I would call 111 again, and be very clear that you've already been diagnosed and prescribed medication by your usual GP but you have no way of accessing that medication.

silvershark22 · 03/08/2024 11:37

I think in some way this was linked to the heat. I drank a lerter of water and put a fan on and this meant I could sleep.

OP posts:

It also looks like i can possibly get the tablets. On my NHS app it says to show thwe barcode to a usual phaermacy.

It's good you realised this OP. Heat can definitely affect me mentally as does dehydration.

Remember the most important part of breathing for calm is the long slow out breath. Pretend you're blowing a bubble.

silvershark22 · 03/08/2024 12:57

Thanks @SquirrelSoShiny it was really odd as I couldnt seem to get the breathing under control at all. Previously with panic have been able to manage breathing but really couldnt and even when waves of panic stopped the breathing was still rapid. I like the blowing boubles description, i like to tell children to bimagine blowing out candles on a cake.
