To ask about your sleep in pregnancy… is this in the realms of normal?

I slept very well up until about 20 weeks pregnant. From that point I have experienced PGP, mainly in my hips, which wakes me every couple of hours. I would say from 24 weeks especially I have been up reliably at least 3 or 4 times a night. Tonight I’m feeling emotional (which is silly, I know) because I have bad acid reflux, hip and back pain and on top of that I’m worried about how life and my marriage will change, I guess it’s properly dawned on me in the last week or so that I’m having a baby in a few months!

I’m nearly in the 3rd trimester now, does my sleep and night symptoms sound relatively normal? I know I’ll get bigger which won’t help sleep too much

(I want to add to all of this that I’m not complaining at all and would experience this a thousand times for our lovely baby, who we wished for and can’t wait to meet.)

Awww its tough OP everything is so much harder when you're not getting much sleep. My last pregnancy I would be up at least a couple of times a night with aches and pain. Have you tried a more upright position. That and omeprazole at least helped me with the acid reflux.

Thank you. I just feel bad that I’m having all these aches and pains, I didn’t expect it in my first pregnancy. I will try that, thank you xx

I had horrific pgp and acid reflux. Bottle of gsviscon by the bed and a pregnancy pillow really helped.

28 weeks pregnant with my third also sugfering bad pgp. Would far rather be up feeding a baby than just tossing and turning for no reason my sleep is terrible and I don't know how I'll cope for another 3 months like this
When baby comes keep communication open with your husband let him know how you're feeling / what you need help with and equally ask him the same x

The acid reflux was my worst symptom, I was up most nights eating bowls of Rice Krispies to relieve the symptoms plus tons of gaviscon. During the last couple of months, I suffered with a lot of back pain, the midwife physio gave me two kinds of belt to help support my bump to relieve the pain, paracetamol didn't touch it, soaking in a hot bath did more good.

This is the time that a U shaped pregnancy pillow really came into its own for me! Wishing you well OP, this stage when sleep goes tricky before the baby has even arrived is super tough.

Use lots of pillows. Put at least one between your knees, and one under the bump.
Life with a young baby can be exhausting, but have absolutely wonderful moments too

i agree with the pillow advice for the aches and pains. You definitely need to be sleeping with a pillow between your legs. It might be worth investing in one of those big long pregnancy pillows.
