To want the kids next door to shut up now?

OK so I know that I probably am being unreasonable but I'm tired and grumpy and want some peace..

We have a big garden. On one side is another family with kids the same age as mine, we have a low fence and can see into each others gardens. The kids play with each other all day long alongside the fence, having a great time. They don't go out until 9am at the earliest and they come in 7:30pm at the latest. I make sure they don't scream or screech loudly but they do talk and laugh quite loudly. The neighbours have the same rule.

On the other side is an older couple. They're OK. We know each others names and send Christmas cards. Other than that we don't have much interaction. They've done a couple of things over the last five years which I consider quite inconsiderate but have on the whole been decent neighbours.

Tonight they must have their grandkids over because omg there are young kids out there screaming their bloody heads off and making a loud banging noise. Not sure what it is, maybe a football but it's really irritating. It's now 20:51 and no sign of them stopping.

My kids and the kids on the other side are long since in bed, the only noise is these kids next door and the neighbour hood dogs they keep setting off with their screaming.

Is it reasonable to think they need to bring them in or tell them to be quiet now? My kids are in bed and I'd like to relax with the doors open on this hot evening without listening to other kids and it's well past 8pm!

Would you be annoyed? or suck it up as a rare occurrence?

YABU as many have said, they probably don't want to hear your kids playing many hours, many days, they'd probably like to sit in their garden & only hear the birds chirp.

one evening listening to their GC is NOTHING in comparison.

It's a one off and before 9pm isn't even late. I'd let it go.

@orangesandlemonssaythebellsofstclements My only question is why were your kids "long since in bed" at only 8:51 in the summer holidays? How boring! The biggest perk of the summer holidays is staying up late/later!

My dad sack of a neighbour has found some fucking concrete or something in the corner of the garden, he is now hammering it with a lump hammer . Fuck off to him and all the annoying neighbours. Yes I'm going down the headphones route , thanks and goodnight x
