Why am I the only one in my family with blonde hair?

My parents and brother are all dark haired. I have blonde hair and blue eyes. My dad does have blue eyes, but my mum and brother have brown. But their hair is all totally different to mine.
I used to think I was adopted when growing up. My son now has white blonde hair so it’s obviously a strong gene from me (my partner has brown hair).

I know a family where everyone is dark haired, brown eyed and olive skinned, apart from the so who has blonde hair and blue eyes. He's definitely the biological son. He has so naby other similarities but his colouring is different. It's just a recessive gene.

My mum was one of 7.

6 of those have kids - 20 of us.

No 18 came out ginger!

Of those 18 7 of us now have children - 4 of those are ginger - none of them from the sibling of my mums who had the ginger child - they are from 3 of siblings!

Genetics are fascinatingly weird!
