Sweaty head ruining the summer

I would be eternally grateful if anyone could help me with my problem. My head sweats so badly that my hair is constantly soaking. I’m dreading going on holiday this year, last year I had to carry a small hand towel around with me to keep drying my face. I was getting really strange looks. Even in the hotel dining room during breakfast and dinner I had to keep mopping my face with serviette’s. I asked my doctor about this and he more or less brushed it aside and made no comment. I don’t have a problem with sweating anywhere else. A normal deodorant works fine and I never have sweat patches underarms or anywhere else. Please please has anyone got any advice.

Do you take any medications? I used to really struggle with a sweaty head on a particular med.

You can get botox injections for hyperhidrosis, prob not on the NHS but at a private aesthetics clinic.

I have this too. It's awful - I just ordered some Odaban to try on my face.
I think sweaty genes run in the family as my dad and sister are the same.

A neck fan is the only thing thats helped me. You can find them on amazon.

Has this always been a problem, or did it start last year when you had the problem on holiday? Could it be menopause? I ask because, despite always having very thick long hair, I only really started getting a sweaty head during and after menopause. The hot flushes have died down now, but it's as though my temperature regulation systems have been permanently changed.
How are you wearing your hair? If it's long, put it up but not too high and try not to pile it on top of your head in a big bun or similar. Pony tails might not be your favoured look but it gets the bulk, if you have a lot of hair, away from your head.
On hot days, I spritz a lot with plain water in a perfume style bottle round the hairline.
I do sympathise, it's a nightmare, whatever the reason.

Beware Oduban stings like hell on the face! BUT it's totally worth it.

Do you use face cream/moisturiser at all?
I had this happening to me with a certain face cream. It seemed like it was clogging up my pores on my forehead not letting my skin breath causing a sweaty forehead. After changing to a different cream it stopped.

BurntBroccoli · 31/07/2024 10:05

Oh thanks @Flabjab
Do you spray it on the whole face or just certain sweat prone areas?

Spray onto cotton wool and dab it onto the problem areas. Has to be done at night time so you sleep with it on. It is unpleasant at first but becomes more tolerable.

I used to have a really sweaty head until I started to wear a light coloured cotton sun hat when it was very sunny. Now they're not the most stylish of clothing items but for the reduced discomfort totally worth it.

Sue let us know how you get on.

@Flabjab
Thank you.
Do you find you sweat more in areas you haven't applied it to?
