To ask for the best suncream that doesn't stain clothes?

Looking for recommendations for decent quality suncream (suitable for kids and hot climate) that doesn't stain clothes, after so many that seem to do just that!

Ultrasun, doesn't stain and lasts all day.

BiliousOhGod · 29/07/2024 10:35

Ultrasun. SPF 30, 50, 50+ extreme and a specific kids formula. Now widely available. Not cheap, but often offers for bundles. Does remain effective for 3 years unopened and 2 years opened, so less likely to waste it. Follow the instructions carefully and it's great. It doesn't contain the "yellowing" chemical which P20 has/ used to have.

NeedthatFridayfeeling · 29/07/2024 10:43

Those recommending Ultrasun, what are the directions for use? I currently use Calypso once a day which we apply in the morning then again after lunch after a morning of swimming which is working, but it is very yellowing!

takealettermsjones · 29/07/2024 10:45

I've always used Soltan Once, never had a problem.

Yousaidwhatagain · 29/07/2024 10:51

La Roche posay kids honestly the best one.

CityGirlintheCountry · 29/07/2024 11:15

I bought this brand called ThinkBaby from Amazon after doing extensive research. My DS2 has eczema so I try to be careful with ingredients. It's got a high zinc oxide content (23.4%) so it goes on really white initially, but does sink in if you spend a minute, and does not stain clothes. HTH!

watchingsmurfs · 29/07/2024 11:17

Another vote for Ultrasun. Brilliant stuff.

watchingsmurfs · 29/07/2024 11:19

@NeedthatFridayfeeling I would apply Ultrasun in the same way you do Calypso. If you go onto their website they have a very good table that explains how long each skin type can safely stay in the sun with/without suncream.

Ultrasun - apply in the morning 30 mins before going outside. We top up with something like Nivea in the afternoon.

Strugglebus86 · 29/07/2024 17:21

I've been using Malibu once a day - cheap and hasn't stained anything yet AND goes on dry🤌🏼

snapdragongirl · 29/07/2024 19:13

Thank you - ultrasun comes out well! Will have a look at all of these, thanks so much.

Dc are both pasty as fuck but also annoyingly sensitive souls, and after many trials over the years we have settled on rieman p20 factor 50 spray... Which is fabulous stuff, but turned the white school shirts hideously yellow. So last week I soaked them in the vanish white stuff and rubbed some of the concentrated vanish gel on for good measure before washing. Yeah, don't do that!! They aren't yellow any more, but they are pink! 😩 >> Bin.

Thatsnotmynose · 29/07/2024 19:20

We use ultrasun and I'll reapply at lunch or after swimming

La Roche posay kids honestly the best one.

I use this and it’s absolutely brilliant but it stains horribly

peanutbuttertoasty · 29/07/2024 19:21

Is there any way to get the yellow stains out?

snapdragongirl · 29/07/2024 19:25

I'm sure I read something the other day that suggested factor 50 isn't really necessary and doesn't offer much more protection than factor 30. I've always used factor 50 on DC but wondering if 30 could be ok? DC are all 10 and older now. We will be in Greece and I know temps are currently in the 30s....

AmusedRoseCrow · 29/07/2024 19:27

We use soltan baby sun sensitivity factor 50 with no issues

longlocks · 29/07/2024 19:34

Lidl’s Cien range doesn’t stain

Interested in this too as also off the Greece soon

Have used the Aldi range for ages. The dry spray one is good.

Demelzatheredhaired · 29/07/2024 20:27

Temperature is irrelevant OP. How close you are to the sun matters most - this varies by latitude, altitude and season. It also matters how much UV is bouncing off other surfaces and on to your skin. Look up the UV index of your destination on a weather app.

westendgirl780 · 29/07/2024 20:30

Dishwasher rinse aid gets the yellow put. As a PP said, bleach turns the stains bright pink!!

BiliousOhGod · 29/07/2024 20:49

I think Ultrasun 30 blocks about 96% of harmful rays, and 50 98%. But don't think of it as "the same" - 30 let's through twice as much... Plus, check what they call the "sun account" (or something). I burn in 10 minutes without sunscreen, so 50 gives me 500 minutes. 30 would only give me 300 minutes. Then I'd burn, regardless of how many applications I used. I don't use less than 50 because I have stupidly sensitive skin, and also because I'm lazy! I can genuinely put this on, have breakfast, and be good to go all day.

weareallqueens · 29/07/2024 21:06

Ultra sun stained our clothes. I don't think there's much avoiding it when you're up in the high factors. Napisan has some success in getting the marks out but not much.
