I was recently made redundant from a company that I had worked at for 15 years.
So I had to claim UC.

I've applied for everything I can, obviously it's really difficult to survive on UC alone.

I've had a few offers of employment, but they have wanted photo ID which I do not have and I literally have nobody that I know who countersign any ID. I have really tried to think of anybody.

I sent a message to my advisor telling them that I had no photo ID and that I was struggling to get a job or find someone to countersign. And I got a message back saying they could countersign for me and to take forms to them. So I was pretty happy that it would make it so much easier to find a job.
But when I tried to confirm it with them I got another message saying, sorry this isn't something we can do 😔 am I wrong to be upset that they got my hopes up that they could help with getting a job?
Also is it possible I'll be able to find a job with photo ID ? I have a birth certificate

Honestly I fail to believe that there is nobody at all in your life that can countersign for you.

You can fail to believe it all you like but some of us don't have people in our lives! All my family (besides my elderly mother) are dead and everyone else I know are in jobs that don't qualify. What a closed mind you have

What about voter ID https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate

Did you not get this for the election?

First paragraph of that page:
Use this service to apply for a ‘Voter Authority Certificate’. You can use it to vote in person in some elections and referendums in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). You cannot use it as proof of identification for any other reason.

I think the confusion is about the id itself. If you apply for the citizen card for photo proof of id then they can sign it off for you but no they can't do driving licence or passports. I think the error made was the first person not qualifying the type of id you were applying for.

@HauntedbyMagpies Very closed mind. So many people don't have anyone like that, anyone to put as emergency contacts etc. Some people can't see outside their bubble

You don't have to be a in qualifying job - you can just be a "person of good standing in the community".

The person also has to have a passport, which I accept might be limiting in some areas.

In OP's case she worked in the same place for 15 years. I doubt very much that everyone there is a criminal and no one had a passport.
