Had no idea i should not be doing it and now i am worried sick. Early pregnancy. Just spent about 3 hours outside doing it. Would you worry you harmed your baby or do i need to chill out?

brentwoods · 27/07/2024 21:22

You'll be fine. Chill out. (said in the most calming way possible)

heinzseight · 27/07/2024 21:24

That's a totally random connection if I ever saw one!

Whathaveidonewhat · 27/07/2024 21:30

I posted on facebook to get a recommendation for a good fence paint and people spotted it telling me how dangerous it is (obviously they didnt even know about the pregnancy)

You could be nicer, or actually just scroll on, nobody asked you to comment something unkind and she’s clearly worried. OP I understand having had debilitating anxiety early on in my pregnancy myself about health/anything I did impacting baby. Baby will be fine lovely. How pregnant are you? X

forgotthewords · 27/07/2024 21:32

Just seen you’ve said early. Especially if you’re before 12 weeks I wouldn’t give it another thought, baby is so well protected inside you and oblivious to the outside world. The placenta only takes over at about 12 weeks and for much before that time your bloodstreams aren’t even connected so rationally there is no worry at all to be had. I hope this helps but I know you might still worry, do things to keep your mind busy and remember there’s people who don’t know they’re pregnant until the third trimester and beyond in some cases!!

GabriellaMontez · 27/07/2024 21:34

Don't worry. It's the kind of thing women used to do all the time.

It's just that now, no matter what you do/eat/breathe, someone on social media will tell you you shouldn't do it.

Whathaveidonewhat · 27/07/2024 21:38

Thank you. It really means a lot.
i suffer with depression and anxiety and been taking antidepressants for almost 2’years but even though they apparently “safe” i am not comfortable so just stop taking them when i found out about the baby couple of weeks ago and my mind is all over the place

@forgotthewords its really nice when someone stick up for you. Really appreciate it

You'll be fine OP

Babychewtoy · 27/07/2024 21:41

You’ll be fine.
But I think you should see someone to discuss medication. You’ve been taking them for 2 years because you’ve needed them and pregnancy can be an anxious / stressful time even for people who don’t already have anxiety or depression.

Honestly it is fine, wish it happened more on here. I had some really really rude comments when I’ve posted on here over the years but you will usually find there are always a few people who come along to reassure you. Not everyone understands what it’s like to be anxious.

OldTinHat · 27/07/2024 21:46

I'm sorry you're worried. Being pregnant, especially the first time, is always a constant 'wtf have I done/eaten/moved' dilemma.

Always good to ask, though.

I think you'll be fine, as will baby.

Cherubs4 · 27/07/2024 21:49

I would have worried about this too but chances are very low that it will impact the baby, especially if you're before 10 weeks and the baby is not yet getting it's nourishment from the placenta.
It is a legitimate worry so ignore the people trolling above - some people are overly blazé when it comes to safety and pregnancy. I would say, try to rationalise it if you can and that will help your anxiety. Chances are very slim something will have impacted the baby. I would suggest that you use protective gear from now on though!

JC03745 · 27/07/2024 21:52

What type of mask did you wear? A DIY type one with FFP3 filters or just a blue, flimsy one with the elastic around the ears?

I would not be worried if i had a mask on☹️

Apologies OP, I clearly misunderstood that you were sanding without any type of mask on at all! Pregnancy wise, I'm sure all will be fine. Going forward, I wouldn't be sanding anything in future without proper respiratory protection- pregnant or not.

Aw what a tough spot to be in. If it makes you feel any better I had to continue with mine (SSRI) as the dr said it was healthier for the baby than the severe panic attacks I experienced without them. Baby was fine -- I was able to nurse and she is now a teen.

Coming off them suddenly is terrible. If anything maybe taper off?

You did taper off them didnt you? Not suddenly stopping them.

Whathaveidonewhat · 28/07/2024 00:05

I was on 100mg since beginning of the year (upped from 50mg) so i figured it wasn’t as high dose to taper it off. Well…will be calling gp for sure on monday

If someone breaks a finger nail before they have even conceived there will be someone saying 'why don't you think of the baby' nothing brings dramatics out like pregnancy

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/07/2024 00:34

Outside in the fresh air is fine. Don’t worry.
