Just that really. In my case for a 7 year old? (Or thereabouts)

how much on average would you spend for school shoes and then also trainers? I have no idea but want to send money for my niece for shoes and trainers for school and don’t know what is realistic amount.

DD (7) can wear black trainers to school. Decathlon ones cost around £15 or I buy Nike or other branded on sale for no more than £25.

VividQuoter · 27/07/2024 21:40

The bare minimum. As long they are soft and comfy. I am not into Clarks, they are made of iron

Hankunamatata · 27/07/2024 21:41

£30 for school shoes (usually in the sale or from m&s sale so prob nearer £50 full price)

HappyMuma · 27/07/2024 21:41

About £50 on Clark’s shoes then about £40-£50 on trainers. Although it’s getting more expensive as they get bigger!!

OutThePanIntoTheFire · 27/07/2024 21:43

6yo recently asked for dunks same as the teen. They were £70 ish.

For pe they get standard nike/ Adidas whatever is on offer around £30/35

School shoes last pair were £48 start rite

Sandals x 2 pairs they were around £12/15 a pair.

Crocs £35
Wellies £15 I guess , whatever m&s or next have that fit but average £15

Similar for the younger sibling

More expensive for the 2 teens they're eye watering expensive as adult sizes

Ineedaholidayyyy · 27/07/2024 21:44

I buy the adidas tensaur in black which work for both normal school days and PE days. They are around £30. I bought Clarks for my sons first pair of school shoes but he complained they were uncomfortable. I bought the Adidas and he much preferred them ,plus they lasted well.

I think some off you are over spending on trainers, especially if they are just for PE kit at school when they only wear then a couple of times a week and will grow out of them quite quickly. I can even get DS who in high school a pair for £25 from sports direct for school. I do spend more on ones he wears at home, but school ones just stay in his PE kit and don't get much wear.
School shoes however are on their feet all day, but smaller feet can be a bit cheaper but DS are around £60. Primary are more like £40-£50.

Edited

They don't get changed for PE anymore, it's changed since Covid. So they're in their trainers two full days a week. Plus a full week in summer for 'sports week' at our school.

We do the same as most others by the looks of it, £50 on school shoes from Clarks and then £30-50 on trainers. DS has wide feet so can't buy supermarket trainers... in fact, any recommendations for wide fitting kids trainers would be welcome.

bluebee17 · 27/07/2024 21:46

Shoes from Next £35 and £20 trainers

OutThePanIntoTheFire · 27/07/2024 21:46

Yes we have the revolution ones for pe generally or similar in Adidas. My 6yo refuses velcro as its collects fluff etc so has to have lace up for pe and home use. Those are fab for pe as you say light to carry

I used to go to Clarks, get them measured and then pay a fortune to get them kitted out. The shoes often fell apart in no time so I went to shoe zone, got my son a pair for £9.99 and they lasted longer than any of the others and were apparently very comfy! (no I don't work for shoe zone)

Same

Get feet measured then go to shoe zone or a small locks shoe shop

Trainers for pe have to be black basic so around £12 from shoe zone

School shoes Price varies but Around £15/20 but buy each term as feet either grow a bit or so scuffed so get 3 pairs sept to July

I've Bought Clark's at £55 and after a week scuffed

So exp scuff as easily as cheap

Now if only could buy a non scuff shoe 😂💖

ballroompink · 27/07/2024 21:55

About £50-£60 for the school shoes. DC2 (6yo) is a heavy walker, scoots 1.5 miles to school three times a week and plays football as much as he can so they need to be hard wearing. We get them from an independent shop and this year's pair lasted almost the whole year.

Trainers I spent £33 in February and they are just about done in now. They are Adidas ones. Prior to that I think he had £20 Karrimor ones which again lasted about six months.

BlueSoul · 27/07/2024 22:00

DS is 7 and I spend around £50 on school shoes and £40 ish on his school trainers.

Idtotallybangdreamoftheendlessnotgonnalie · 27/07/2024 22:05

Usually get some cheapy Adidas tenasaurs or Nike air max for around £30 for 7 year old.

5 year old is currently rocking some £20 Skechers.

addictedtotheflats · 27/07/2024 22:06

£20-£30. Either black leather trainers like the tensaurs which are about £25 or I go to the clarks outlet and never paid more than £30. PE trainers I go to the nike outlet and ive picked a few pairs up for less than £15.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 27/07/2024 22:09

Honestly? About £10 - £15 each on Vinted. A lot of the time they’re almost new in the original box.
My eldest is eight and she’s very good with her clothes and shoes but my youngest is about to turn seven and she just wrecks shoes, constantly scuffing and dragging them, jumps in ever puddle etc.

Sunnydaysun · 27/07/2024 23:18

Clarks shoes £48
Sports shop trainers about £35/40.

Find out where she usually has shoes and trainers from as supermarket shoes cost about £20 and trainers probably less.
However for us I've always had Clarks shoes they seem to last well.

PeloMom · 27/07/2024 23:22

Around £100 for both

FussyPud · 27/07/2024 23:30

My youngest wore trainers for primary, so about £20/30.

My eldest was at a different primary, so had Hush Puppies at about £40 as school shoes, and the cheapest trainers going for PE as that’s all they were used for.

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 28/07/2024 09:19

Around £50 gor clarks school shoes & £50 for Nike trainers.

ChiffandBipper · 28/07/2024 09:23

Clarke's shoes are around £40-50, or asda/Tesco shoes are around £12-16. Shoe zone trainers are around £15-18.
Clarkes shoes are more expensive, but they do last longer.

SossijRoll · 28/07/2024 09:49

I used to go to Clarks but now I go to sports direct and buy plain black trainers for about £25.

Koko83 · 28/07/2024 13:09

Thanks all. I’ll transfer £100 and if there’s left over can put it in savings! X
