Working interview? Childcare

I’ve applied for a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Childcare and have been asked to come in to do a working interview. I’ve never done of these before. I do have one young child of my own but have never worked in childcare before but I’m interested in it so applied for the apprenticeship. I’m wondering why it it will be a working interview and what it might entitle. I didn’t think this would be something needed for an apprenticeship? Any one got any experience and know what this might be?

Do they want you to do an unpaid trial shift and are calling it an interview?

Most likely to be x amount of time to observe you playing and talking to the children etc...... see how you interact with them.

when I’ve done something like this, i was in one of the rooms with the other staff and they just watched and observed me interacting with the children

I used to help run a preschool and we always did this. Not a full shift though, like an hour. Its because some people seem great in an interview with adults but are useless with the kids and its how you engage with the kids that is most important in the role.

Just be yourself!
