Dentistry in the uk

Aibu to think this is not right.

I earn over £50k. I also have my work compensate some dentist stuff as part of my health insurance package.

I usually get a couple of check ups, a few x rays, maybe a bit of work (filling, polish)

I recently had quite a thing where half my tooth broke off. It had obviously decayed a bit.

I had a £400 filling. And a £200 mouth guard.

It was not covered on my insurance as I'd reached my limit.

There are very few nhs dentists in my town. There is one my husband went to and it's awful. Really bad. Lots of complaints. The rest are full.

I've been with my dentist since I was a kid. But they want £700-1000 to fix this tooth.

And i just can't afford it.

It's insane that someone that earns £50k can't afford a tooth repair.

My husband actually had a tooth extracted a few months back as he couldn't justify the cost of a root canal.
