Pearshore/Worcester area - moving we’ve only visited once

Dh and I have decided we no longer want to kill ourselves to live in the South East. Especially as his job can be moved and I can wfh.

So we have found a house that I adore. Literally dream house. I am a homebody during the week so the actual house is very important. It feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere (not even in a hamlet) but you can be in Worcester in 15 mins and Pearshore (an attractive town) in even less (car).

I will have to occasionally come into London but train commute seems fine for the occasional trip.

Has anyone got any experience with the area? Kids are grown up. I do like to go out for a meal/drink maybe a couple times a week.

Having the Cotswold on our doorstep and the Malvern hills is a massive draw as that would definitely take up most weekends.

When DH and I viewed the house we drove around and spent time in Worcester and Pearshore. They were both fine.

Any advice would be helpful

Is nice, and possible to get reasonably priced property I reckon. The Malvern hills are a lovely, easy walk. Malvern is a nice town…a bit of an elderly image but there are family cafes and cropping up which are giving it a buzzier vibe.

It's a lovely area. My FIL lives in Pershore and my SIL in one of the villages between Pershore and Malvern. DP spent his teens there and it's great for walking, mountain biking etc. Commuting to Birmingham is easy. Traffic in Worcester is difficult (getting over the river) but if you aren't needing to do it in rush hour it's not so bad.

Jimmy Pickles in Pershore is one of our favourite restaurants when we visit

Be careful of areas which flood if the house you've seen is anywhere near a river. There have been a lot of anti-flood measures put in over the years but there is still a risk.
