Probably absolutely nothing. But if you’re worried contact your midwife.

AnxietyLevelMax · 25/07/2024 06:59

I dont have a midwife yet, just self-referred myself and waiting to be booked in.

Stop taking it but don’t stress. There’s aren’t many medicines that say “suitable for pregnant women” that’s because they can’t ethically test the effects of medicines on pregnant women for obvious reasons. That doesn’t mean it’s not necessarily safe. Also at 6 weeks the placenta hasn’t even properly formed or taken over, plenty of women may not even know they are pregnant yet and could still be taking all sorts, so don’t worry. Just speak with midwife at your booking appointment. I don’t think she’ll have any concerns.

From nhs
Cetirizine can be used in pregnancy. There is no good evidence that it causes harm to the baby. However, other antihistamines such as loratadine may be recommended as there is more information about its use in pregnancy.

Don't worry. At 6 weeks many people don't know they are pregnant. I was still drinking, smoking and taking Fexofenidine for hay fever at 6 weeks.

Stop everything now and contact GP or pharmacy for a suitable one.

Congratulations ❤️

Many drugs say not recommended in pregnancy, it doesn't actually mean they're unsafe, it's more usually to cover the manufacturer or lack of evidence as companies don't run clinical trials with pregnant women because this isn't ethical. If a medication says not recommended in pregnancy you should speak to your doctor or a pharmacist before using, that doesn't mean you've done any harm to your baby.

You took cetrizine? I took it all through pregnancy as other antihistimes don't work on me with doctors agreement. I don't recall there being any actual evidence that any of the otc antihistimines were safer than the others. I also took other antihistimines as some of the anti nausea drugs are antihistimines. My child is fine. Don't panic. Talk to your doctor and do what you need to not be miserable and uncomfortable during pregnancy

Thank you all! I am much less stressed now
