To spend £230 on trainers?!

I fancy a pair of Axel Arigato Dice Lo Bee Bird Sneakers that are £230 but can’t bring myself to buy them. What trainers are “in” at the moment? I have white Vejas that I find really uncomfortable and I have a pair of black NB that I love but have been worn to death.

You're probably better off asking for this to be moved to Style and Beauty.

YANBU to spend your money on what you want though.

MidnightPatrol · 24/07/2024 22:08

If you can afford it and it makes you happy, just do it and enjoy them.

catscalledbeanz · 24/07/2024 22:09

My god if I could afford to I would! People spend hundreds, thousands on bags. Shoes that can barely be worn or walked in. At least a trainer is a practical (and beautiful) item. Go for it. Fingers crossed that one day I'll be able to do the same.

GreatScruff · 24/07/2024 22:11

They are nice.

JockTamsonsBairns · 24/07/2024 22:11

If you can afford them, and you want them, then why not?

EatTheGnome · 24/07/2024 22:13

I'd certainly look for a discount first.

Spend what you like, cost per wear, if you wear them for a year it's less than a quid a day.

It's easy to fritter that kind of money on pricey snacks and takeaways, at least things tangible (my logic anyway!)

mitogoshi · 24/07/2024 22:16

I wouldn't but I wreck shoes. I've just ordered some new white adidas trainers, because I'm kids sizes they were £28

pinacollateral · 24/07/2024 22:17

@EatTheGnome A pound a day for wearing trainers is quite a lot.

OP, I wouldn't buy them. I don't really like them to be honest, but that's beside the point. It's very personal depending on how much money you have/ how much you value trainers/ how much you want them. Buy them if you want them and can afford them.

Sisterdeloris · 24/07/2024 22:19

If you can afford them then why not. People spend huge amounts of money on stuff that others cant understand like photography, golf, cycling to name but a few. It's your life!

"Just do it" - wrong brand 😂

CocoDolphin · 24/07/2024 22:22

I’m obsessed with trainers and own many pairs but I wouldn’t spend that much on them. Especially such an unremarkable-looking pair.

Xtraincome · 24/07/2024 22:23

Yes please. Size 7 for me, will DM with address!

If you have 230 to spend on trainers, do it!

JambalayaFan · 24/07/2024 22:26

They are lovely OP! As long as you can comfortably afford them then yes, absolutely treat yourself! How long have you wanted them though? If they’ve been on your mind for weeks then brill. Just make sure it’s not an impulsive purchase that is going to pass

Michellebops · 24/07/2024 22:26

They are gorgeous and yes I would pay it.

Put £1 in a jar every time you wear them and you'll have your money saved back in a year 😂

I'd also be surprised if they lasted anywhere near a year of daily wear.

I would also say that they won't look like that for long, but that could be that other people seem to somehow keep their footwear a lot cleaner than I do.

So many times I've been out in the woods in walking boots caked in mud with more mud splattered up my legs and I see other people walking through the same woods with their white trainers still looking box fresh. How? Do they levitate?

Iwanuspdgwia · 24/07/2024 22:39

Good point on £ per wear! I’d buy a dress for a wedding and wear it once or twice and that would be far, far less economical. Both my veja and NB trainers have been worn to death so likely it would end up much less than £1 per wear as I hate shopping and will wear them as long as possible. Anyone have any other recommendations for white / off white everyday trainers?

It's all relative. It's less than:

1 takeaway a week
A supermarket takeaway box meal
2 coffees out
A few supermarket meal deal lunches
weekend snacks or a round at the pub
2 kids magazines
Bunch of Flowers
Bottle of wine

It all comes down to personal value. I'd rather have the trainers! 😍

Femme2804 · 24/07/2024 23:18

Do it. I spend £500 for shoes and i’m very happy with it. If you can afford it then buy it. Dont think too much. Your happiness its worth everything.

longdistanceclaraclara · 24/07/2024 23:21

If you like them and can afford them why not?

MassiveOvaryaction · 25/07/2024 08:52

If you can afford it then YANBU. If you'd be left unable to afford eating/heating YABU.
