I have been scrolling through multiple threads and cannot believe how much nastiness and bullying I'm seeing on them, mainly from people attacking the OP who is usually in a difficult, emotional or even abusive situation. The OP has to continually answer effwits who are all asking the same question, wilfully misreading the post or who haven't bothered to read it and keep making silly suggestions. It's so depressing.
I also think the site has been infiltrated by misogynistic trolls who are relishing the opportunity to attack women online and belittle them when they are at a low point. Seeing the number of deleted posts on every thread is more evidence of abusive and inappropriate messages.
How can this be sorted out so Mumsnet doesn't end up being a horrible bear pit (like Twitter) which is best avoided when it used to be a source of help and advice for a lot of women?

OP posts:

I used to be on a forum that had a really useful emoji
It was a little yellow Pac-Man type holding a sign with the words “Don’t feed the Troll”.

I often wish munsnet had that so we could post it rather than getting drawn in. And it would signal to the OP that not everyone was a goady f*cker

And loads of men coming on to 'give a male perspective" which is frankly not the reason we are on MN.

Since MNHQ don't endorse troll hunting that won't be happening here. In any case people should be able to make their own decisions about whether to respond or not.

I guess it might get worse over the six weeks hols , but not sure what mumsnet can do about trolls and they do pull dodgy threads if it's reported.

It's getting quite bad, particularly the ones who deliberately misread what you put and then have a go for no reason at all.

For example: (made up for this example)
OP: My child age 4 is refusing to eat breakfast on a morning does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get them to eat something?

Poster: Why are you starving your 10 year old you should be reported to social services for neglect!

It's completely bonkers and keep seeing it more and more where it turns really nasty for the OP and others users including myself. I hate it when certain users try and bombard you into agreeing with them and they have several usernames saying the exact or similar thing. I just don't bother responding after a while and move on. Which is really spoiling as I don't mind a good debate but when it gets to the bullying stage it's just not on.

I suppose just keep reporting to MNHQ as they'll get rid of the thread or warn people to behave better.

It's got much worse lately, so many nasty unkind answers deliberately trying to stir up trouble.
