I can't stand this new generation where even when you go out for a casual meal or a bloody walk and people start taking selfies/ videos.
I've never liked having my photo taken, but I now actively avoid it and it's a pain in the backside.
The worst thing is the selfies people do at concerts / theatres.
FfF just put the camera in the distance, I don't want to be part of your group photo!

I hate this as well. I’ll be away with my friends for a weekend, the last was a spa, one was clicking away with photos, and next il
on her social media account with oil on my face and my swim wear on display. It really pees me off I ask people to remove them.

I just came back from a girls weekend abroad, we were having the best time rather tipsy in the swimming pool. When we returned home , someone in the group had taken photos and videos of us in the pool and put them on our what’s app group. I looked horrendous and I cried..: then went on a diet but I didn’t giver her permission to film me . Sober me doesn’t want to see drunk me 🤣 so yeah I can never relax, if I know im going to be photoed I’d have to dress up more and make an effort and sometimes I just want to be .

CCTV is everywhere so you're going to be recorded in public. People want to record themselves making memories.

You get changed in the car. Or put screens/windbreak/tent up. Or change in the loos. Or the dunes.

People don't want to see you stripping off in public. By doing because it supports something YOU enjoy then you're doing the same as the people taking photos and videos

There’s a huge difference between CCTV and people’s personal images. I don’t just strip off anyway, I wear a changing towel. But they aren’t infallible, and you could accidentally show something. Why should I have to get changed in the car because people can’t keep their photo/video taking to themselves?!?

I don't mind people taking photos. I enjoy taking them myself.

Howwver, I absolutely HATE having my photo taken and will avoid it at all costs.

This is one of the reasons why...

No, you don't

It is perfectly reasonable not to want to have your photo taken

I think it's very rude to take photos of people you know if they've made it clear they don't want their picture taken

If it's randoms who have no idea, then crack on

It's a photo of some tourists looking at a bridge. The comment section is a bunch of men being absolutely disgusting about a woman's body shape, and a bunch of women defending her.

The world doesn’t revolve around you. Try a bit of give and take.

Raincloud32 · 26/07/2024 19:53

I completely agree with you @Aquarius1234
I hate being in photos so much and its impossible to avoid cameras thses days with the constant selfies and vlogs. I hate it and it makes me not want to go places where I know there will be loads of cameras. I know I'll sound old but why did people stop enjoying things with their eyes and only watch the world through their camera or phone. It used to be if you're at a concert you might want to take a few photos of the performers, or even some video clips of your favourite song but now it's watching the whole show through the screen or filming yourself watching and singing along and then filming the crowd too. If you want to film yourself doing that that's one thing, but I don't want to be standing behind you having myself also filmed and then uploaded to social media. I hate it so much.

I agree with you OP. I was on the beach the other day and some fucker videoing themselves strolling along the beach walked directly past me as I was changing. I hate photos of myself at the best of times as I am not photogenic at all, let alone when I am in swimwear or getting changed on the beach. If I don't want to be in your photo or video I shouldn't have to be. And taking photos of videos of other people partially dressed is not ok.

I bet they would love for you NOT to be on their video 😂. We have apps now trying to get rid of unwanted people.

But as you happen to be in the way, you might be in the background. It's a public beach, you have as much right to be there as the person taking pics or videos.

You are being ridiculous if you show too much when getting changed in a public place and it bothers you. Use a towel or a changing robe.

That photo is clearly taken OF that woman because of her shape. It's cruel

There are 2 different things - people taking photos and videos and you happen to be in the background, and again, I bet they would prefer if you were not there.
Nothing you can do about it.

People taking a photo of YOU specifically without your consent. That's mean, or at least rude.

Yes, but even if that photo was genuinely of the bridge, there would still be comments about the woman's body shape because people are vile. I'm pretty sure she was just wanting to look at the scenery without having to worry that someone behind her is taking a photo that might include her. It's not the same as when it was just cameras and paper photos. Now they can be shared with the world.

Why should people not film because you can't keep your bits covered?

Many concerts are recording the audience anyway?

The artists and the bands release the footage

It'll say "video footage is being taken at this event"

Exactly this

In a public place there is an expectation of you potentially being in photos in the background

Taking photos to deliberately mock (or leer at) people though... different issue
