Dead mouse

I already know the answer is yes. The neighbours cat brought in a dead mouse on Wednesday in to the communal hallway I found the tail and an eyeball in the hall and was able to sweep it outside (just about 🤮) but when sweeping the communal hall today i found the rest under my rug. I can't bring myself to believe this problem is there can I just ignore it? For context the hall it not part of my flat I sweep the floor downstairs as it gets dusty. I can't ask my neighbour to pick it up. What can I do?

Pick it up and get rid of it of course

OneTC · 21/07/2024 12:03

Why can't you ask the owner?

Gemaski · 21/07/2024 12:05

No body owns the block of flats and I have no proof their cat brought it in although I think it is obvious. He saw me sweeping the eye and tail and wasn't chivalrous enough to offer assistance although I was clearly having difficulty.

Pick it up and bin it. Tell the cats owner and let them know they need to deal with it in future.

MonsteraMama · 21/07/2024 12:07

Pick it up in a paper towel and chuck it in the bin. You don't want to leave it to rot, cleaning up partially decayed slime and corpse bugs is far less fun.

Perhaps the cat killed it in the hall, in which case it's quite lucky.

What sort of difficulty?

Dust pan and brush, sweep it up, dispose in the bin

Wipe dustpan and brush with antibiotic wipe and put away.

Put a plastic bag or two on your hand, pick up the mouse, reverse the bag around the mouse and seal it. After binning that, give the area a wipe with jeyes fluid or Dettol and then go wash your hands and shudder a bit.

It will start to smell really bad otherwise and be even grosser to clean up Sad

Gemaski · 21/07/2024 12:26

All done it was obviously squashed down needed a knife to remove from floor 🤮

FGS pick it up, it's a 2 minute job and it's going to be worse the longer you leave it!
No proof it was the neighbour's cat, mice are everywhere

Exactly. What's difficult about it and why do you expect someone to be chivalrous?

sesquipedalian · 21/07/2024 13:15

OP, you will be glad you picked it up and binned it, because had you not, it would have absolutely stunk after a couple of days - our cat once almost killed a mouse that then died under the fridge, and I found it by the smell, which was absolutely disgusting!
