Not including, bills, mortgage.

Just food and outgoings.

How long is a piece of string.

How can anyone possibly say without knowing where you live. Whether you both work, commute?

These vague threads are so strange as though people have a crystal ball to know the key information about your setup.

Food/grocery costs (so including household stuff, toiletries) family of 4 with younger than school age children, I’d say £400 a month.

‘Outgoings’ otherwise is very vague. You need to clothe growing kids and even adults need stuff that wears out over a longer term. Activities & entertainment can be a little or a lot depending on your means.

Bills 2600
food 400
car 250
plus fun

We are a family of 4 and if you take out our mortgage, bills and childcare costs we spend around £2k a month on food, outgoings, days out, our own expenses.

ByCupidStunt · 21/07/2024 09:32

£3k

Overthebow · 21/07/2024 09:34

That doesn’t include our holidays or cars money though, so more if you want those included

I think you are going to need to give more information than that 😂

Food and essentials £600 - £150 a week. Small children eat less but you likely have nappies or similar. Some weeks less, weeks you buy toiletries and cleaning stuff more.

£200 a month - day to day extras and replacement- kids outgrown shoes, clothing, swim classes, day trips as family

£500 extra - buffer for everything else. Saving for Xmas and birthdays, annual holiday, new furniture or house repairs and renovation.
Ideally larger extra if you have old house and know you have large repairs the next few years
