In 2007, the 'artist' Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, took a dog from the street, tied him to a rope in an art gallery, and starved him to death. For several days, the 'artist' and the visitors of the exhibition have watched emotionless the shameful 'masterpiece' based on the dog's agony, until eventually he died.

But this is not all... the prestigious Visual Arts Biennial of the Central American decided that the 'installation' was actually art, so that Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat his cruel action for the biennial of 2008.

PLEASE HELP STOP HIM.

It's free of charge, there is no need to register, and it will only take 1 minute to save the life of an innocent creature.

Have signed the petition. Jesus that's sick.

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 21:15

Oh fgs colditz, I'm sure nobody here is in denial about the evilness of mankind but animals are a part of the world we live in.

LilyMunster · 12/04/2008 21:17

colditz

how extremely to the point.

im with you. not one penny or second of my time will go to save any animal while human children are still suffering/starving/dying of preventable diseases.

christ that pic makes me feel sick.

SmugColditz · 12/04/2008 21:22

Yes, they are part of our world, and while I still put dead animals in my mouth I am not going to get het up about them, but I don't eat children.

I cannot enrage myself over a skinny dog that apparently escaped anyway when (A) I have just eaten a chicken dinner and (B) Children, real children, not photographs or dollies or 'other' children, someone's sons, someone's daughters, someone's four year old, someone's 2 year old, are DYING because they lack what is basically the contents of Tesco's Skip - food.

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 21:31

Well I apologise for my social conditioning, and although I can see your point on many levels. I can't help if after being battered senseless day in day out by my father from 9yrs on with a sczophrenic often drugged to the eyeballs mother sat in the corner. Well I guess as a 9 year old my beloved dog Tammy was my pet and my best friend and kept me from going insane. So excuse me for caring about animals.

Divastrop · 12/04/2008 21:35

i dont think its necessary for animals or humans to starve/be starved to death

SmugColditz · 12/04/2008 21:40

It's horrible. It is horrible, the idea that a dog was chained and left to starve, and actually I have a visceral reaction to the idea of it, but I'm going with the owner of the gallery who says they saw the dog eating and it escaped in the early morning the next day.

If it did happen, that person needs locking up. But it upsets me greatly that so many people can weep about a dog and ignore a starving baby.

morningpaper · 12/04/2008 21:45

Yes it is not clear whether this is true.

However there are many worse things to get upset about in central America

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 21:47

Well, thanks for the warning of that picture colditz.

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 21:50

Oh FFS! Can people not post on a thread about animal cruelty withouth every single crime known to man being compared to. I do care about starving babies. I do care about what happens in South America but sure hey if we want to keep the way this thread is headed.............

I'm sorry, yes I should have put a warning on that, in hindsight.

Apologies.

jellybelly2007 · 12/04/2008 21:57

I have signed and forwarded it to all my friends, to then forward to their friends. This sick bastard must be stopped. Or shot

morningpaper · 12/04/2008 21:57

But REALLY

One "alleged" internet story about a starving dog in central America gets 2 million signatures

WTF?

I have friends that live and work over there and believe me, THIS is a waste of energy

pinkyp · 12/04/2008 22:01

surely if the dog was tied up in the musem somebody whether it is a viewer or worker would of fed him!

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 22:01

How is signing a petition that takes 30 seconds a waste? If it saves that man possibly killing a dog then it wasn't a waste of my time.
I waste more time answering the pathetic kerry katona threads.

Monkeytrousers · 12/04/2008 22:02

Not sure your point Colditz really. Most people who have compassion for animals also have compassion for humans too. If you care about what happens to one you are far more likely to care about what happens to the other.

Signing the petition doesn't mean care more about dogs than about starving children

Monkeytrousers · 12/04/2008 22:03

Think that's a tad extreme Jelly

jellybelly2007 · 12/04/2008 22:03

While I also agree with colditz (just read full thread) statistics apparently show that someone who can cause severe crulety to animals is also more than capable of harming children, so if we can stop galleries showing this kind of 'art', then its a step in the right direction as far as I can see.
My neighbour kicked his dog to death, and a few months later their DD was taken into care.

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 22:05

This old Universe is made up of many many people. Yes I agree totally that 2 million signatures for a dog is crazy compared to some of the things happening in this world but I do have a right to be passionate about animals withouth somehow beinh lupmed into a "They care about dogs but not people camp"

You are entitled to your oppinion about it being a waste of energy. I took this thread on good faith. I only read the op. i did not read the link. I make no apologies for being against animal cruelty.

jellybelly2007 · 12/04/2008 22:06

Mmm, Yeah monkeytrousers, see your point reading back. Wasnt meant to be absolutley literal though.

Monkeytrousers · 12/04/2008 22:07
Grin
morningpaper · 12/04/2008 22:07

It's not the bloody Saatchi gallery

This is CENTRAL AMERICA

There are children starving there every day

Communities that don't even have CLEAN WATER

morningpaper · 12/04/2008 22:09

AND the original message appears to be an internet urban myth!!!!!!!!!!

But no feel free to get incensed and throw about your s all over the shop

Mhamai · 12/04/2008 22:13

I don't care about the location. I care about animals being mistreated. This is what this thread was about. I do also care about.......... If you are so passionate about the children of South/Central America why not start a petition, link to it here on a thread and I will be one of the first to sign it.

morningpaper · 12/04/2008 22:15

Jeez you are all mad, going crazy over an internet myth

But hey I just ate a cow, it was delish
