To take a month off between jobs?

Been made redundant but have managed to secure another job. They're asking about start dates.

I'm going to get two months PILON. AIBU to just have a month free between ending this job and starting the next?

The PILON means that effectively it won't be unpaid, but if I did start straight away obviously we could put the money into mortgage/savings etc. We're not on the breadline but have young DCs so extra money always useful! DCs in nursery so I wouldn't be spending all the time with them as I think it would unsettle them.

AIBU to take a month? Or should I take less or none at all?

Do it, absolutely. When else do you ever get to just have a month off!

Definitely do it if you can afford it.
I took week and half off this year changing jobs. Would always recommend a break if you can.

Go for it . Do all the things you never find the time for .

I always take a month off between jobs and go away. Probably wouldn’t bother doing it if I had to stay home stuck in the same routine.

Do it and maybe try and take DC out of nursery some of the time, just to spend some time with them. Time goes by so fast, before you know it, DC will be in school.

DH has done this twice between jobs - it's been great for him. Do it, there aren't many opportunities for this type of thing in adult life

If you can get the summer off, paid, then do it. As long as your new job is happy to wait. I guess they know you havent got to give notice, but you could say you have holiday booked and other commitments so would prefer to start afterwards, and have no distractions.

Definitely do it
