What would be a nice gift to say thank you?

basically, I was in hospital for a week and was quite unwell. All the doctors, nurses, HCA and all other staff were amazing and I want to get a thank you gift for the entire department. i was wondering if anyone had ideas of some really nice gifts to say thank you? I was thinking of maybe a hamper which some things in it but wasn’t sure what would be particularly good to include.

everyone was amazing so I just want to say thank you so any inspiration would be really appreciated!

thank you x

Some tins of M&S chocolate biscuits. Make sure you label them night staff and day staff. I worked a lot of nights and we never got anything!

A hamper is a lovely thought but when patients give us hampers we have to raffle them, as how do you split a hamper? Whatever we raise goes towards our Christmas night out but sometimes no one has time to go round selling tickets until some of the stuff is a bit past it. I’d second the biscuits idea, we love nice biscuits with our tea! We’re often given chocolate but a really nice box or multiple boxes of M&S chocolate biscuits to put in the offices and nurse stations would really make us happy!

Working nights right now and I feel you!

A personal thank you card for anyone who made a difference, especially nurses who can use them for revalidation and the most junior of the doctors who can use them for their portfolio.

Nice biscuits

Stompythedinosaur · 19/07/2024 01:59

Chocolates or biscuits, individually wrapped.if possible.

The nurses will appreciate thank you cards saying what you particularly appreciated. They can use these to revalidate.

Definitely a card.

It would be wonderful if it also said what you appreciated about that person’s care.

As others have said, it is helpful for appraisal and re revalidation (for consultants as well as nursing staff and junior doctors.

It is also a lovely boost to see that somebody appreciated you when you’re going through a tough day. I’ve kept the cards and letters I’ve received over the years. I used to pin them to the divider screen at my desk and they cheered me up no end (until our office moved whilst I was on mat leave and I no longer had a bit of noticeboard).

Nice coffee and tea is appreciated as we have to buy our own and nhs tea bags are rank. Biscuits, anything we can snack on during a busy shift! Cards we keep for revailidation.

Also if there is any member of staff in particular you feel went out their way to care then hospitals have the Daisy and tulip scheme to nominate staff for an award.

In the past I've done cards, & have written individually to anyone who has made a huge effort (HCA last time).
I take tea, coffee, fruit tea bags & biscuits.

Letter to the Chief Exec saying how fab they were.

A nice card is always appreciated, we have a wall with them all on. One of the nicest gifts my ward received was a lovely hamper of fruit and healthy snacks. A lot of us try to be healthy and can be so hard to resist the never ending supply of chocolate, biscuits and donuts that people (very kindly btw) give us.

A well chosen card with a personal message and thank you. My two children are doctors and its a hard job at the moment. Thanks make all the difference.
