To think he must have been up to something?

I've been with dh for 15 years and he's always taken his phone to the toilet 2 or 3 times a day and can be in there up to an hour.
I asked him what he does on his phone all this time while locked in the bathroom and he said he was trying to poo.
He then said if you like I won't take my phone in there with me then and now he doesn't and in the last say 3 months he has been leaving his phone on the bed while he goes to the toilet (toilet is in bedroom) anyway suddenly his trips to the toilet have reduced to 2-3 minutes since not taking his phone in which is a big jump from 45- 60 minutes which he was before.

It's obvious he was up to something on his phone and has stopped now it's become an issue, isn't it?

I'm aware it sounds like he can't win here but this isn't something I intend to bring up again, it's just on my mind.

Nobody sits on a toilet seat straining for a poo for a hour?! If that's really the case he needs to urgently see a bowel specialist.
So of course he was just scrolling/reading/watching something. Not necessarily anything horrible, but I've noticed men in particular have a penchant for toilet phone use. The guys at work used to do it. It's a yucky habit, and antisocial to block the bathroom for that long!
I honestly wouldn't worry, and be glad he's stopped doing it.

My dh takes his phone to the loo. Maximum he's in there for is 10-15 minutes. It still baffles me, I'm in and out in 2-3 minutes.

Can't beat a "shit and scroll".

zebedeehadapoint · 18/07/2024 11:58

The phone is the new book to read sitting on the toilet. Quite common.

Why is this a problem? What do you think he's doing?

Yeah agree with everyone else. My DP scrolls either YouTube or DIY sites. He usually comes out looking for his wallet to buy something he's just found on Screwfix / B&Q.

"How did you get on top of your household budget Mrs. Starlight?"

"Slipped Immodium in my husband's tea."

Probably watching porn in there.

🙄 yes because that’s the only possible answer.

My husband never did this before kids. It's his excuse to check out.

<tries to remember which prominent Mumsnetters have gone quiet recently>

😂 My first thought was he’s probably titting about on mumsnet or pistonheads. Where time is a black hole…

Oh it’s so annoying, man thing! I’d say if you left your phone in another room you’d be much quicker. In fact if we were getting ready and had to leave the house at a certain time and he suddenly needed the loo 15 mins before leaving I’d say give me your phone 😂😂

does he also suddenly and urgently need a shit whenever you ask him to do anything or was that just me
