It’s a small storage basket approx 35cmx40cm

I really love it for our DDs nursery but logic is also saying… £50?! And I suppose she won’t be aware of it or appreciate it for years.

YABU - worth £50!
YANBU - that’s expensive for what it is

I can't have anything wicker/woven in the house as our cat would rip it to shreds... Storage baskets are generally useful in DC bedrooms though. If you love it and can afford it, buy it!

Freesiabritney · 16/07/2024 21:38

I like it! Matalan have a similar concept but it's acorn shaped and only £12?

Jeannie88 · 16/07/2024 21:42

Cute but I would search for sth similar at less cost. Xx

Violet17 · 16/07/2024 21:51

I think it is too expensive for what it is.
Wait for the sale to see if you can get it half price if you are set on it

Very similar on Etsy for half the price

Not mush room in that.

iamtheblcksheep · 16/07/2024 22:04

£12 matalan

nearly as cute. You can jazz it up with the spare £38

Pretty much anything in a baby's nursey is for the benefit of the parents rather than the baby - babies don't really care. If you like it buy it. I would kid yourself that the baby will appreciate it, by the time they are old enough to appreciate anything they will see it as babyish - they probably won't appreciate until in their twenties as a cute object.

purpledagger · 16/07/2024 22:12

my view is that if you love it and want it regardless of the price, you should buy it. The fact that you are even asking means you aren't sure yourself.

there is likely to be an offer of sale at some point, so wait until then.

DD is bound to sit on it and break it as soon as she's big enough!

This was my first thought 😂

Dartwarbler · 16/07/2024 22:29

If it was handmade then yes worth £50. Takes a time to weave, and then there’s materials.

but, would I pay that for something in a child’s nursery. Nope. Thsts for you becuase you like it, not for dc. They’ll not appreciate it and one sit on it would break/squish it out of shape.

ifvyou love it buy it for you. Keep away from dc though and put in your own bedroom 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thedayb4youcame · 16/07/2024 22:34

It's a lot of money for what it is, IMO, but then I don't like it enough to want to own it.

However, it should last years. Today I spent about £15 on petrol to go somewhere for a day out with husband. Lunch was £22 something. Coffees & cake over £13. Plus £10 on crap from a charity shop.

So that's £60 and all I'm left with is some lovely memories and some crap from a charity shop that I had no intention of owning when I woke up this morning.

Perspective is a wonderful tool.

from small acorns grow mighty oaks fungi.

BeachParty · 16/07/2024 22:40

If you can afford it and like it, go for it.

Esme20 · 16/07/2024 22:42

I think it’s really lovely. If you can afford it, go for it :)

PangolinPan · 16/07/2024 22:43

My kids would have trashed that within minutes once crawling which colours my judgement but it's a no fucking way from me.

caringcarer · 16/07/2024 22:43

I don't even like it.

Growlybear83 · 16/07/2024 22:44

Yes definitely. Next had a very similar toadstool laundry basket last year for a similar price - I bought one for each bedroom when they were in the sale, and I love them. They hold enough dirty clothes for a couple of small washes.

Inlaw · 16/07/2024 22:51

The washing basket I really want is £180 so you’re asking the wrong person.

No I don’t have it.

If I could spend that on a washing basket I would with no regrets.

LumpyandBumps · 16/07/2024 23:18

Is it from Dunelm? That would put me off.

I do buy stuff from there, and actually quite like the shop, but if I was paying £50 for a small basket I’d hope for something a little more rare than something which is in a chain store.

That's what I thought, until I did a google image search...seems like the going rate for a chain store, and a lot more for something posher.

Username1010 · 16/07/2024 23:22

If you like it and can afford it then buy it.

However I have just spent over £100 on two dog bowls on the basis that I will see them every day on the kitchen floor so I might not be someone whose advice you want to follow.

longdistanceclaraclara · 16/07/2024 23:23

No but I don't like it, at all. If I loved it maybe.
