That's about it since October it has just been constant non stop grey and downpours! Mid staffs here and it's been truly never ending I have honestly never seen it this bad, what is going on here?!!! We have had to memory 2-4 decent days and that has been it! I've never known it be like this for so long! It's mid July and it's not looking like it's ever going to end, forecast for next 7 days looks exactly the same and it is COLD too and non stop wind it's so bizarre!!!

It's atrocious. Solid grey skies this weekend.

Allmarbleslost · 15/07/2024 21:50

Birmingham here and I am so sick of it!

xtinabale55 · 16/07/2024 08:54

It poured it down all last night and it's continuing this morning it's terrible! The worst I've ever seen! The midlands def seem to be having it the worst this yr as it's been non stop, literally 2-3 days of decent weather in 10 bloody mths!!!! This decade is awful, Covid, recession, house prices still soaring even since 2005 they shot up astronomically! My first home we paid double the cost for it and they've continued to rise since over last 18 yrs! Everything is so expensive and everyone seems to be struggling the weather is about the only thing to look forward to for many and it's been the worst I've ever seen, my child has been sick all night and have to miss another day of work which is becoming a problem as we have no family help it's so hard!

Agree we're in Notts and it's been terrible every single day is full white / gray clouds with rain at times. Can't remember last time we had blue skies let alone sunshine.
It's so depressing, every time you see the weather map the band of cloud is always through the Midlands, doesn't look like it's improving either .

It’s the jetstream which causes low pressure and its associated weather (cold and rain). It usually sits more north, hence why it’s colder and rainier in Scotland and northwards. It is currently sitting lower than it should and for longer.

It’s due to climate change and it will now happen more regularly. We once could have expected it once every 10yrs for example but now it will be every 3-4, alternating with more severe hot weather and what we think of as ‘normal’ weather.

Unfortunately these are our weather patterns now and we need to accept it and keep moving globally to halt further effects of climate change.

Derbyshire and it's pissing it down. Tomorrow is looking better though.

Skinglow · 16/07/2024 09:16

The next few days look better.

focacciamuffin · 16/07/2024 09:21

I’m in the south midlands and the last week has been pretty good. No rain until yesterday when we had a month’s worth of rain in a few hours. It’s been dry so far today too.

KeirSpoutsTwaddle · 16/07/2024 09:24

Yes. We had a nice week in April, if I remember correctly.

BigDahliaFan · 16/07/2024 09:30

We had a nice week in April too...and it was lovely last Monday, while I was at work. Before that it was nice in June 2023.

It's been dark, cold, damp, windy and generally crap for most of the last 12 months. I'm in the North West and I've had enough. I don't want 25 degrees plus and bright blue skies .... but I'd just like some consistent weather so it's worth getting the garden furniture out.

StarCourt · 16/07/2024 09:52

Solihull here and we've had nothing but rain for weeks on end

TallulahBetty · 16/07/2024 09:52

WM here and it's atrocious.

Feckedupbundle · 16/07/2024 09:58

East midlands here. We've had two consecutive weeks of dry weather since last September. Can you tell that I work outside?
When I was studying horticulture 25 years ago,we were unequivocally told that the climate was going to become drier and hotter,so we should be designing and planting drought gardens. Ha!

It was certainly a very wet summer in 2012,we didn't get our hay in until August. Last year it was September before it was dry enough to mow. This years hay is still in the field, getting battered.

CHIRIBAYA · 16/07/2024 10:05

Generally don't mind most weather but the endless grey and wet feels relentless. I've not bothered with summer bedding plants this year and have worn a summer dress once. We were looking at buying some outdoor furniture but it feels pointless so not going to bother. I'm also no longer booking any self-catering during the summer months in this country; refuse to pay the prices being asked when the enjoyment is impaired by the weather. I feel for any parent having to entertain children during the school holidays when the weather is such a crock. This is all on the back of an absent summer last year.

Devilsmommy · 16/07/2024 10:07

West Midlands here and raining today but next 3 days are supposed to be 22,23,24°. We can only hope🤞

TrickorTreacle · 16/07/2024 10:34

It makes a change from the 40C that we had 2 years ago. I'd rather take rain than 40C. Those who disagree with me can always go to to the Med.

xtinabale55 · 17/07/2024 14:14

Finally we have sunshine in the midlands and it is so good!!! Life feels so much better with sunshine and warmth!!!
