To have taken today off sick?

Worrying my managers will think I was just out last night - I wasn’t!

Spent all day yesterday in bed, no obvious weird symptoms, just extreme fatigue and joint pain. Fell asleep about 9pm last night, woke up at 5am bed soaked (sweaty), horrendous headache and dizziness. Took two paracetomal and fell back asleep. Rang work and told them no way was I managing in, something’s obviously wrong but not sure what.

I woke up again about half an hour ago and feel slightly better, I’ve managed to eat something but still shivery and knackered.

I work in healthcare - in a very specialised role. I’ve spoken to my clinical lead who said to get well soon but staff sickness is looked down on, and I don’t want to make a name for myself. I’m on probation, I’m about a third through (six months, can be extended).

WIU to take the day off?

Hope you feel better soon. You would be irresponsible to go into work and risk patients safety, it sounds contagious and could cause fatalities if people are already ill and weak. Not to mention infecting colleagues.

I think sickness is only looked down on if you keep taking the odd day off here and there, especially Fridays or Mondays. Or if you keep getting d&v as you have to abide by 24 hour rule. Is your Bradford score normally good?
