Moved in few months ago dream house! On new build estate. Neighbour is housing association but that never put me off as I have been a HA tenant myself.

She was lovely originally. Then she started having police and ambulance turning up regularly. Had all her children taken away. Since then different men turning up throughout the day arguing screaming banging!
Weird man turning up every day at 04:00am. Both drink driving he sped of yesterday evening and nearly lost control of the car. Baring in mind my kids and my other neighbours kids were out playing.

Shes spotted the camera now and can’t keep her eyes off it and is even walking down the back gate to avoid. Part of me feels bad because I don’t want her to feel uncomfortable. Other part of me doesn’t trust her or the dodgy man she has there.

Definitely keep the camera up.

Keep the camera doorbell. Have you reported arguing/screaming/banging/drink driving to Police and HA? Someone could be killed! Screw her feelings, she's a nightmare neighbour.

Candygrapes · 14/07/2024 22:01

yep reported to her housing officer, only thing I have reported is the drink driving.

I'd be putting up more cameras and I would have already called the police.

Itstherichthatgetthepleasureasusual · 14/07/2024 22:40

Oh gosh keep the camera.

I got a security camera at the front a couple of years ago when I, and the neighbourhood, was having problems with anti social behaviour. The police and council finally sorted the bad behaviour but I kept the camera, and also got one for the back of the house. It really helps to make me feel safer because I live alone. And also allows me to check on things if I go away on holiday etc.

Given what you've said about what's happening with your neighbour your camera is very necessary.

rainfordays · 15/07/2024 09:32

Definitely keep the camera. She sounds exactly like a neighbour I had who was housed by the council because she was a single mother. We had the same issues you have described - dodgy boyfriends, domestic violence, screaming arguments, driving without an MOT on her car (and therefore likely no insurance), drug dealing, constant police visits every week to all the neighbours asking what we'd seen or heard, her drunk friends driving down the road and hitting parked cars...then finally culminated in a group of her friends armed with weapons coming round to take revenge on a boyfriend who had been hitting her for months with her child in the house witnessing it all, followed by a police raid on her house to remove the drugs she had there, and she was eventually evicted. I believe a neighbour's Ring doorbell footage was used by the police as evidence of what had been going on. It is not going to get any better, so do what you need to to ensure you and your kids are as safe as possible.

Definitely keep the camera and I would get one out the back too! Why is she avoiding your camera? Sounds as though she has something to hide!

ThisZanyPinkSquid · 17/07/2024 08:56

If she has nothing to hide then why would a ring camera bother her so much? I would absolutely keep it up more for your safety/protection than anything.

Littlefish · 17/07/2024 09:05

I would put up another ring doorbell at the back door!

MystyLuna · 17/07/2024 18:06

Nothing wrong with keeping the camera up but I am not sure why you felt the need to mention she is a housing association tenant.

I live on a new built estate which has a mix of privately owned houses and housing association houses.

I have a good job, earn a lot more money than a lot of my neighbours and have never caused any trouble for any of them.
We seem to be the go to house if any of the neighbours need help with anything.

We also have a neighbour that sounds exactly like the neighbour you described. With the exception of having children taken away. I don't know whether or not she once had children. But everything else she pretty much the same as your neighbour.

I live in a housing association house and my neighbour owns her house.

purpleme12 · 17/07/2024 18:27

Why are you worried about her with regards to the camera?
This is a no brainer.
As long as you're doing everything legally with regards to filming your property etc then absolutely leave it up!
First advice I give if you're having neighbour problems is cameras!

CalmBalonz · 19/01/2025 17:44

What are you waiting for? Keep the camera up and phone the police!
