A fair way of lining up instead of everyone jostling stressfully and the hottest or tallest or most pals with the bartender getting first dibs?

I like the old way. You get banter with other people at the bar wanting a drink. Although now I'm old and fat rather than young and pretty it definitely takes me longer to get served.

Good bar staff keep track of who's next.
I am a shortarse but mostly get served in turn

Another one who hates it. It's just stupid (and looks it when there's a humongous long bar and a single file of folk behind one another).

We went to a outdoor music event tonight and they had a zig zag barrier system in place, when you got to the front you just went to the next available server. I thought it worked better than the usual scrum at the bar and the staff looked a lot less stressed. To be honest so was I 😀

Does anyone know why the bar was opening our cans of beer/cider( only selling cans no draft) and taking off and throwing away the water bottle caps before you could take your drinks? I did ask if we could have the lids for the water but she said no.
I wanted to drink my beer and save the water for later. Dh wanted to drink some water then his cider. We couldn't do either and carrying through a dancing crowd was a mission

I think it's because if you throw them (not saying you would) if they're sealed shut they would hurt more? Whereas if you threw an open can or bottle it would empty on route and not hit as hard.

That used to be the reason at football matches anyway.

Best way to get served at a bar has always been to squeeze your tits together. Not PC but true. Also, surprisingly,I've found early 40s tits work just as well .

Eeew
Perpetuate the tropes, well done
