Should a 6 year old be able to eat sweets quietly?

On a coach today and on and off for six hours a child behind me was eating gummy sweets and my goodness, the noise was awful! Should her parents have told her to eat nicely and not with her mouth wide open or are they immune to the noise?

Yes. I cannot stand kids (who are old enough to know better) eating noisily. DD was taught to chew with her mouth closed from an early age - I have no idea how this basic principle seems to bypass the minds of so many parents these days. There are far too many adults around who eat like pigs (and that’s offensive to pigs!)

Cant imagine the noise they were making sucking on a haribo. Her parents probably had the same manners.

Eurgh, that's awful. I would not allow my children to eat like that (3 & 4yos).

Oh definitely. I often see whole families in cafes or restaurants eating with their mouths wide open.

I think they were more wine gums.

The bad manner apologists will be here in a minute, but yes, it's disgusting, and of course, kids and adults can eat properly. They choose not to.
