I worked at a local school for a few years in a self employed capacity and left as the culture was just toxic and stressful. High staff turnover. Dangerous environment to work in. Staff talking to students like they were animals. Poor safeguarding. Poor communication. Many complaints from many parents. The list goes on.
I've just seen that they've just received a good ofsted report. The description of the school and staff is full of praise.
I did highlight concerns I had, mainly over safeguarding. Luckily for me I work flexibly and am in demand, on a self employed basis, so was able to move on quickly when I realised I didn't want to work there anymore.
But how in the hell did they get a good ofsted? Baffling.

OH worked in a London academy that was hell on earth. SLT demanding staff in at 6am, meetings at all hours - before school, lunchtimes, hours on end after school. Expected to be there till at least 8pm and turn up to stuff at weekends etc.
It got an Outstanding rating

How long ago did you leave? Schools can be turned around if the right people are put in post, and a lot depends on the leadership culture in making those changes

You left before the inspection right? So how do you know what it was like?

My disabled ds got restrained and locked the the staff room hysterically sobbing at his school. I was friends with one of the TAs who told me to believe my child as she witnessed it but school denied it. I was asked not to bring him in ofsted week. He was then illegally off rolled. I appreciate he has high needs and school could not handle it but the LA at that point refuse to accept he needed special provision. One teacher was always crying in the staff room as going through a messy dv break up I believe. She looked clearly unwell to parents. Another was suffering long term health issues. My TA friend age 20 was teaching classes on her own and having to actually plan lessons. £8 something an hour she was being paid. Lovely capable person but she had no qualifications for teaching!

The school got rated good.

I work in early years myself. Ofsted is a joke honestly all that rating tells you is how good the paperwork is- and if the paperwork is outstanding that takes a lot of time so who's looking after the kids while it's done? I would trust the feel I get over ofsted anyday
