I'm really freaking out - worrying about cancer

I've had some intermittent symptoms of nausea and vomiting / sometimes diarrhoea for the last year or so. Most times it's linked to a stomach virus that's going around in the house.

But a few times it hasn't been linked.

I saw the doc about it a while ago and had a blood test and it was ok.

I then just put it down to just having been unlucky because of the viruses my kids had brought home from nursery, which more often than not, affected everyone.

I recently started to take a GLP 1 agonist to help me lose weight. All was fine for around 8 weeks and then the ninth week, I had one of these stomach ache attacks. So I went to see a specialist privately to get to the bottom of why it's happening. Especially as one of the bad side effects of the GLP 1 is pancreatitis, which is serious.

He said it sounded like gallbladder attacks and he would order an MRI scan and also an ultrasound.

I had the ultrasound yesterday which was all fine. Now I'm waiting for the MRI and I just can't help but be really really concerned and going to worst case scenarios.

Shouldn't I be feeling quite ok that the ultrasound didn't show anything ? My thoughts are running away with me and I'm an absolute mess. I feel sick to my stomach with worry and could literally cry any minute.

He never said he's worried about cancer, but I'm not sure if he would mention it. I explained my symptoms and worries- my main worry really was pancreatitis and I don't want to continue taking the meds if I'm prone to it or if there is already inflammation. But all of a sudden all I can think about is the C word.

I am just freaking out so much. Please help.

Those are not cancer symptoms. Try to stop worrying! If your doc was even slightly worried about cancer, they'd have referred you for testing.

You're taking meds, which have pancreatitis as a side effect, and you think it's cancer? Maybe just stop the meds.

A team of international researchers have now found non-diabetic patients taking glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA) drugs are at a higher risk of stomach paralysis, pancreatitis, and bowel obstructions, compared with those taking other weight loss medications.

I know that. But I did have the symptoms a couple of times before I took the meds.

The doctor actually said, don't stop taking it.

I have reduced my dose/ almost on a break from it until I know if it's something more serious or medication side effects. I am worried because I did have the symptoms before.

Maybe it's unrelated. I pray it is.

It's the medication. The anxiety is lying to you and making you worry that it's something else.

The most likely cause is the medication.

Hopefully that's all it is.

I've really worked myself up. I'm sure if it was really really serious, they would have been able to see something yesterday.
