ASDA deliveries

Asda - I've been having home deliveries for years now, due to being disabled, and have always found them good. However, for a few months now, every order ( 2 x £65 a week), has had several substitutes or things missing. (4 substitutes today, one being bananas instead of grapes.

Today, the man came an hour late - no bother, he said he'd been delayed. On putting our stuff away, a whole tray of chicken breast fillets (1kg) was open, a large bag of carrots, a punnet of strawberries and one of raspberries were both split, and all 4 items had milk all over them. Our milk was fine, not leaking, so it must have come from someone else's order. AIBU in saying that the driver should have said something?

It's good that refunds can be applied for online, but annoying as I wanted those things tonight.

We had an ASDA home delivery once and there was twelve missing items. It's not like they were out of stock and we were told in advance

When we checked the shopping off the receipt we noticed the missing items. We rang and complained and they weren't very interested. We managed to get them to begrudgingly bring the items out the next day

Four pints of milk still missing. We didn't use them again

We complained about our deliveries and as practically every delivery was missing or had damaged things we got blocked from getting a refund. We shop elsewhere now as if I’m paying then I’m getting what I paid for.

UnimaginableWindBird · 07/07/2024 12:47

I've found them better value and more reliable than Tesco who I used before. In my case, I don't mind a few substitutions or unavailable items in each order because I have a Waitrose and a Morrison's a 15 minute walk from my house, so it's easy to do a small top up shop.

Scammersarescum · 07/07/2024 13:08

I had a click and collect last week. I didn't bother to collect it as over 70 percent was substituted.

I went into store the same day about two hours after the sunstitues email, and everything I ordered was on the shelves. I got the shop myself and am waiting for the click and collect refund.

Won't be online shopping with them again.

I don't think the drivers really care. Only once have I ordered from Asda, half the order was missing and the rest covered in chilli that had split open. Never again

totk · 07/07/2024 13:15

ASDA in my area has really gone downhill - I won't use them nowadays.

Mycatsmudge · 07/07/2024 13:19

I use to have Asda home deliveries until they refused to refund missing items

DanceMumTaxi · 07/07/2024 13:23

I used Asda for our online shop for years, but started have issues around 6-12 months ago. So I changed to Sainsbury’s and things are so much better. Been with Sainsbury’s about 2 months now and very few issues. Any substitutes have been sensible e.g 2 small packs of coleslaw instead of the one big one I’d ordered.

I’ve had several bad experiences with Asda deliveries. Usually loads of substitutions or missing items which is annoying when you’ve meal planned, and they frequently turn up outside of the booked time slot.
I only do Ocado now, slightly more expensive but no delivery fee so on smaller shops it comes close to balancing out, plus there’s never any subs.
It’s also so much harder to accept the order as Asda only have things loose in crates and I’ve got a long narrow corridor from the door to kitchen.
Ocado have it all in bags so it’s much easier to take to the kitchen and out away. They are much friendlier too, our Asda drives act like you’re really inconveniencing them by answering the door.

SprigatitoYouAndIKnow · 07/07/2024 13:43

I find tesco have the fewest out of stock items where I am. Getting a delivery earlier always helps, as they get lower stock later in the day.

RaraRachael · 07/07/2024 13:54

You're lucky you actually got a delivery. I hadn't done one for a while but on Thursday it took me about 20 minutes to book my slot and input all my order. I got all the way to the end and, just as I was about to pay, up pooped a message to say the following items are no longer available - virtually my entire order - and my slot wasn't available either. I just scrapped the whole lot and won't bother trying again.

Danceswithweasels · 07/07/2024 13:55

This doesn't surprise me. I had been a loyal Asda customer for over 10 years but after this last sale to the garage brothers it has been awful. It got to a point where I had 50% subs and not available items and essential things like bread and milk, I order online as the nearest supermarket is 30 miles round trip so it is a pain in the bum if things are not available week after week. The drivers got worse and delivery times meant nothing, the final straw was when I politely handed back a weird sub and the driver rolled his eyes and said "FFS". Swapped to Sainsburys and it's a revelation, mostly no subs, polite drivers, turn up on time and the surprising thing is for me it's actually cheaper.

mitogoshi · 07/07/2024 14:00

I only use Asda for work drinks orders (for events) as I'm not bothered by the subs and they are cheap enough (actually Lidl is cheaper but sometimes you just want it delivered)

I've tried all the main online players and they are all as bad as each other to be honest. Ocado probably the best but at a price!

Adviceneeeeded · 07/07/2024 14:01

This is why I use morrisons now. And they still deliver with bags so you don't have to transfer to different trays and drag all the way through.

Girlintheframe · 07/07/2024 14:37

I hate ASDA. I only do a click and collect for laundry items and wine now. I tried to use them a few times but so much stuff gets substituted or out of stock it's not worth while. The subs are often bizarre too and are not even close to what the original item was.

ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH · 07/07/2024 17:09

i stopped using asdas in 09 when i was substituted flavoured condoms instead of a clear blue pregnancy test

i complained in writing to the store as i genuinely took offence and was so angry(stressed through 4 years of fertility treatment that wasn't working ,this was my last try) that got me a £150 gift card, massive flowers and a apology letter
in 2009 that got a lot of baby products

i was actually pregnant(2 and half weeks, found out on a 3 for a pound Poundland test so saved a lot of money as clear blue are expensive)

to this day no one beats my substitution but my friend has come close

few months ago a friend just had a new-born and was given tampons instead of size 1 nappies and uht milk instead of sma formula from Tesco's
she was so mad and knew my story from 09 she drove down and complained at the desk
came away with a £20 gift card

they say its computer generated but the human doing the packing must have some common sense to use their discretion

the amount of laughs they must have

i use Iceland
no problems

charlieinthehaystack · 07/07/2024 17:49

I used to use Asda often but I am now done with them. For one thing lots of substitutes you get the email saying what they don't have but when they come there are even more substitutes.
The drivers these days are hopeless; one night nothing turned up, after an investigation turned out the driver was sat in the car park opposite our house didn't want to be bothered delivering anymore stuff that night

GetThatBloodyFaceOff · 08/07/2024 11:20

Thanks for all the replies - I'm going to stop using Asda and try Morrisons (via Amazon Prime) or Tesco, instead.
