To not go to the party?

DS' (6) friends birthday is tomorrow and he's having an outdoors party/meet up at the park. It has pissed it down all day today and we're due more of the same tomorrow.

Would you want to go to the park in the rain, its not very enjoyable is it?

I'm wondering if IBU not to go on account of the weather. Would you?

I do think this is rather a risk you take when you plan a birthday party in a park in Britain (assuming this is Britain).

You’d be really mean not to go. Think of the poor birthday child. A bit of rain won’t do the kids any harm, or you.

Of course you go, you don't teach your kids that they can flake out of commitments, hurting their friends feelings in the process, because they might get a wee bit wet.

You're all right of course. We'll go. It was short sighted of me not to consider how it would make the birthday child feel. Thanks for the perspective!
