Pip Mandatory Reconsideration

Purplebutterflywing · 04/07/2024 16:43

I got my PIP decision - I’ve been awarded 6 points, another 2 and I would have got the lower daily living rate component. I’m so frustrated. I will be going through a mandatory reconsideration, but I’m feeling really anxious about it.
Going to call up tomorrow and get the ball rolling.
Because I got 6 points I feel I’ve got some chance.

Has anyone been through a mandatory reconsideration before? And what does it entail?

You have to just explain why you agree with the decision and back it up with evidence.

You're better off doing it by letter but you need the report first which you need to request.

I did and then to tribunal.

They scored me really low across the board and was not a true reflection at all.

It took 2 years from application to tribunal.

It shouldn't have to be this hard.

Do you work OP? I’m asking for a reason

LadyKenya · 05/07/2024 09:16

It should not be so hard. The whole process is too hard, from beginning, to end. Let us, who are at the mercy of this system, see a change for the better, now that we have a new Government.

Purplebutterflywing · 05/07/2024 17:27

@iamtheblcksheep No. I don’t work.

Citizens Advice have an excellent process that will help you with MR.

My DS had a Mandatory Reconsideration for PIP. Went to tribunal. Took just over 2 years.

The tribunal panel decided on reading his notes/application to approve his award ..... before even seeing/speaking to him!

They couldn't understand how it had got
to them. complete waste of time and resources.

He had an advisor with him who had never seen that happen lol

Lostmymarblesalongtimeago · 06/07/2024 13:51

I think the big question is - do you feel the assessment was fair and you got the correct points or are you just doing the MR in the hope to get some money out of it seeing that you are only 2 points off (your OP reads that way). Not everyone qualified but then often, the DWP doesn't get it right either.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 06/07/2024 13:55

Very few people get an award based on the mandatory consideration. DD1s was refused then she appealed and it was granted just before the appeal hearing. Don’t give up. But do seek some specialist help in respect of how to frame your application and what evidence you need.

Dwp did award me 0 points across everything. I could no even fill the form in someone did have to do it for me I really struggle!

I did take it to mandatory consideration- again 0 points

my friends and colleagues make me appeal and I did have to go to court (virtually it was a video link). I work and My boss was very kind and did attend with me to helps me

court awarded me both parts I was much surprised after the dwp tell me I am ok and no need no helps. Did take 2 years to get to this point though

It did stres me out muchly though it did make me quite ill really I no sure I will want to do it again next year
