Secure after redundancy threat but 0 information

Hiya! I'm posting here for traffic as nobody in the work section has replied.

I'm sorry if my title is a little confusing. I'll try and explain as best as I can. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I've never experienced this before and I'm clueless.

The company that I work for was bought by a US company last year. They also bought another UK company and the 2 of us have merged. Lots of redundancies and voluntary redundancies over the last month (more so from our side than theirs). We lost our HR director and most of our support functions. My manager and team have all left. I'm the only one from my team still here so don't really have anyone to talk to. The communication from the other company/HR director has been horrendous (they don't have the best reputation in the industry).

Around 4 weeks ago I was sent an official letter to say that I wouldn't need to re interview for my job (interview was booked in for the following week) because people had left so there was enough jobs for everyone. I had a teams call with my new manager and the rest of the team around 2 weeks ago to introduce myself and we're all planning on meeting in person (it's a remote role) at the end of July. I'm the only one working on a different system currently so need training.

When we were going through the collective consultation I was told that the hours/salary for the new role would be confirmed once the consultation was over and people were secure in their roles, but nothing has been mentioned since. Apparently salaries will be based on experience and skills. I'm still working under my old contract and have no idea if my hours will be reduced (they work 37.5 hours and I work 40), if my salary will be increased, benefits etc. I don't know if I'll just stay on my current contract or if they'll switch me over to theirs.

I have no idea what they earn but it's not sitting right with me that they might be working less hours in the same job for the same/more money than me.

I thought I might have heard something by now but the communication has been really poor and now that the consultation is over things seemed to have gone back to normal but nothing mentioned about our packages etc. Is this normal?

I don't work in HR so my thoughts might be completely wrong, but it sounds like this has been a fairly major restructure with a huge number of redundancies, on top of trying to merge two organisations together. 4 weeks doesn't seem very long for you to wait for a new contract - although I can appreciate it must feel like an age to you! HR are most probably prioritising those people who have been made redundant and dealing with their termination contracts/settlements etc and then will move on to the people who are staying, I'd sit tight for another couple of weeks yet.

Sounds like TUPE will apply so very difficult for them to change your hours etc. Were you consulted under TUPE?
I suspect they have run their program and now want to carry on and there is no need to change your terms and conditions.

Yes the above is correct, you become a TUPE worker. This basically means that your conditions and pay remain exactly the same as they always have been. Under the rules for this the new employer cannot force you to accept any changes.
